Well, I cut my teeth with ISBN 0-13-042888-4 "Technical C++". Be warned though that I think it is slightly pre-standard, although a quick review didn't reveal any serious discrepencies. It teaches structured programming methods and uses a big spoon. It requires no previous programming experience. It's like $8 new on amazon.
