    datatype bit?

    I know there is no bit or bool datatype in C, but I thought I had seen something somewhere which allowed or referred to the subdivision of a char byte. It looked like this:
    Code:
    char X[0:1];
    However, I can't get anything like this to actually exist. Was this my imagination?

    maybe you're thinking of a bitfield.
    Code:
    struct bit
    {
        unsigned x:1;
    };
    it doesn't save you any real space though, bitwise operators are usually more convenient and flexible.

    Maybe you are mixing up with bit fields or bitwise operators?

"Finding the smallest program that demonstrates the error" is a powerful debugging tool.
