Do bees & wasps bother you?
As the warm weather approaches, and starts to show it's face(long over due), it's BEE season!
Do bees bother you?
Are you allergic to bees?
What bees bother you more than others? Do any facinate you? Please share your stories if you have any.
To me, hornets, the most common bee in my area, do not bother me. I've grew up with them, and if you come barging into a location where one is wandering around, generally they'll fly away off into the distance. I myself have swat at plenty of them, along with alot of different people I know, and they fly away.
Yellow Jackets are in our area, but are not as common. These bees are unbelievably nasty. A friend of mine, while hanging out with me, had one GLUED to his shoulder stinging him repeatedly WHILE it was dying(he was spraying it with insect spray and it was still attacking him!). I guess we shouldn't have been stupid kids flinging mud at their nest. :D
I've never had any experiences with bumble bees, I've probably only seen 10 in my life.
Mud Daubers facinate me, and make me eerie at the same time. They are a form of wasp. And generally, there's 3 kinds of them. Black with highlights of blue, black with highlights of yellow, or all black. I've had 2 encounters that I can remember with all black Mud Daubers which is why I say they facinate and put me on edge at the same time. One time is when I was in our garage and I was going to leave the garage out the entrance for the car. One of these Mud Daubers was bumping up against the wall and when I got approximately 2-3 feet away from him, he swun around and hovered in place, gently, almost like he was dancing, moving back and forth in the motion of a door swinging on a hinge sort of curiously studying me. Another time, I was with my first g/f. We were sitting down, and one of these bees came up to me inches from my face, hover back and forth, then he flew away. THEN, he came back and did it again. This happened like 3-4 times before he finally stopped. I've never beens stung by one, and my research shows that they are a very quiet going bee.
They look similar to a dragon fly, and fly almost the same way. But, they're ugly -
