I wonder how many people would call the following he has 'fame' - he's not 'famous' compared to britney spears, but he's definately famous among the (C++) programming community...

Focus on concepts and ideals; don't get lost in language-technical details.
great advice, but not so easy to stick to when you're first learning programming. it gets easier after you know some of the science behind it and are trying to learn a new language though.
