View Full Version : What's this 'OT' thing?

Hello,

I'm asking because I'm curious, http://cboard.cprogramming.com/showgroups.php
You'll see there is a 'OT' group, what is it? More importantly why is my name there? You'll probably notice your name there too! It seems to be the 'popular' people, I thought it was based on activity, but it seems there are a few people on there who haven't logged in at all this year... so I really have no idea what it is?

My research has led me to believe, OT = Original Topic, or conversely, Off Topic.

Thanks!

Clearly, OT means OpenTransport (http://foldoc.org/?OT). I have no idea where they are openly transporting you to, though.

Yes, clearly :\ -- I don't want to be transported away, I like it here :(

Do you mean, General discussion = Off topic = OT?

Eh, when in doubt, ask Google. Google (http://www.google.at/search?q=OT&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a) thinks the best choice for "OT" is Occupational Therapy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Occupational_therapy).

Which is pretty accurate, actually ...

Don't you know the rules about OT?

You'll never get the GovtCheeze doll if you don't follow ALL the rules.

1. Never mention that which shall not be mentioned.

Dang, now we have to erase all your posts and you.....hold still now!

It's less of a question on what it is. More of what it can be. Possibilities are endless.

Only thing OT ever means to me is over time. And since most of my fav teams are terrible they still cannot win in OT, sometimes in double OT.

Oh, no. You mean it could mean that everyone on that list must post overtime? :(

Operating Thetan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operating_Thetan)
Clusty (http://clusty.com/search?query=OT)/Wikipedia clears up another mystery.

I seem to be OT as well. Hopefully that doesn't mean "off topic."

Another random guess would be that it stands for "Open Threads" and it is a list of all the initiators of presently open threads? Clueless.

It stands for "On time" but we didn't put the "and over budget" part in because we were over budge and needed to get it out on time.

No, its Ot (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ot), the mongolian goddess. We have a closet sect of mongolians here, they heard we might know how to break through a fire wall...
