If you play something like Brain Age, you can excersize your brain. The general heuristic is do more, watch less. Doctors recommend at most two hours of screen time for youths per day (Computers Can Be a Real Pain (http://www.kidshealth.org/kid/watch/house/k_ergonomics.html)). Just be sure that you take a break and do something else with your day.

Now that we've got the health issues out of the way, have you played anything like God of War ? Worth looking into.

I'm 192 cm tall, sit about 10+ hours a day in front of the computer and only weight 85 kilo. I ride about 1 hour on my bike, eat healthy and keep active. And HELL, DO I PLAY A LOT !

I used to play Quake III 6-8 hours a day for 4 years, then I switched to WoW and kept playing until recently, beating every raid boss server first (if you've never played WoW you can't imagine how much work this involves) while at the same time programming and informing myself about new technologies and techniques.

This aside, at the moment the choice of great games sucks to say the least. There's like nothing good for the PC recently, the last "better" games were Rainbow Six: Vegas and Command & Conquer 3. At the moment I'm waiting for Hellgate: London, Loki and several MMORPG's. If I'd had a console, I'd probably play God of War 1&2, Shadow of the Colossus, Ninja Gaiden, Gears of War or wait for the PS3 games Lair and Heavenly Swords.

Congrads! First time moderating? :)

Fallout 2! I love that game. Chess? I love that too.

I think that falls under 'strategy', unless you play bullet chess or something, then it falls under 'mindless'.

That's how some of us play all the time.

One of the most humbling experiences I've had was getting my butt kicked at chess by a waitress at Shari's (diner chain on the west coast of the US). We were both playing for speed and she completely dominated my game. Whoa.

Unfortunately, I don't know what Prince of Persia is as I've never seen nor played it (nor interested in it). I'm only into classics and platformers (and occasional other genres) so I don't know much about modern games either. I do have some suggestions if you're into it.

Final Fantasy 7 - often said to be the best game ever. It's for the Playstation 1 and an RPG game. I especially like the story it has as well as the character customization and battles.
Sonic Mega Collection - has the first of the games of the Sonic series and numerous enhancements. The big downside is that you have to play the games dozens of times to unlock other games and it can take 2 to 3 hours of accessing the game, quitting, and repeating to unlock everything - I seriously hated that.
Super Monkey Ball 2 - a puzzle and arcade-like game where you roll a ball across platforms to reach the goal(s). It's a tough game and good for party-goers since there are numerous party games. It's also my favorite Gamecube game, played more than twice that of all my other Gamecube games, and my second-most studied in terms of game mechanics.

These are just my suggestions.

Final Fantasy 7 (and several other after that) were also released for the PC. And what is that character customization you're talking about, apart from sticking colored balls into their weapons you couldn't do much else. And yes, I've played through FF VII several times, as well as most other FF titles.

That's it - equipping materia to their weapon and armor. There's also stat boosters (the sources). I've maxed out four character's speed, luck, strength, and physical defense without the need for materia and gained 1.3 billion gil. I've played the game too, like 2 1/2 times. I'm also a fan of the series as it's what got me into the RPG genre (I've been a long time platformer fan).

I didn't know FF7 was available on the PC either.

I'm a console gamer mostly, have a 360, and PS2. Playing the 360 exlusively now, but am going to get some old games for ps2.

How about some classic games, like Chrono Trigger (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chrono_Trigger) for the SNES. It's also released by Squaresoft but has an interesting combo combat system.

And I heard it's possible to download the ROM to use with an SNES emulator

@KONI - You can indeed. f1f1f1
@OP - You consider making a game for the fun of it?

Thanks, couldn't bother to check if this board uses alternating color schemes and I wanted it to be a little visible nevertheless

I missed this the first time. The original PoP (and its sequel) is both a classic AND a platformer, actually :)
