We don't really celebrate thanksgiving in this corner of the world. Which is fine by me; We have enough holidays as it is.

But I always found it strange to thank Him for stuff I couldn't really get if I didn't do something about it. Especially when what I would really like was to thank Him for stuff I would love to have but don't because I can't afford it.

Deep...for us it's all about the food! (and a bit of thanking)

Thanksgiving is a holiday in Aerica (and elsewhere) where we get together, give thanks for what we have, eat turkey, and watch various types of football :)

American football is all about killing other players...

In Canada... where everything is backwards.

This has all to do with His agenda.

You can't just expect Him to receive the whole world in one day. He just booked each country individually.

(and those countries that don't celebrate it are on his s*** list)

In Canada... where everything is backwards. I have to agree... for example, shorthand date form:

American: mm/dd/yy, eg 11/24/06
Canadian: dd-mm-yy, eg 24-11-06

I sense sarcasm in your smiley there... do you perhaps not see the logic in the leading month?

The real question is... do you write 24 November, 2006 or November 24, 2006?

I sense sarcasm in your smiley there... do you perhaps not see the logic in the leading month? Of course I do... America's always ahead of the pack, and Canada's the last to follow. Always. Every single time. Another good example, website endings:

America: .us or .com
Canada: .ca :(

The real question is... do you write 24 November, 2006 or November 24, 2006?
Of course we use the former!

Hey, I like .ca. It's snazzy. .us sounds pretentious, but .ca kinda sounds like "Hey, everyone. Part-ay over he-ya!"... which I suppose is also pretentious. Regardless, Canada is good at hockey and that is a scientific fact.

But nothing can compare with .com... it sounds sort of like C++, like "I'm accessing member data from my object!"

*sigh*... some people get all the fun

Regardless, Canada is good at hockey and that is a scientific fact.
And who's been winning the Stanley Cup lately? It wouldn't be US, would it?

SlyMaelstrom

How many Canadians on those Stanley Cup winning teams? Besides, I didn't say you were the best. ;) Though all time, I'd probably rank Canada the best closely followed by Soviet Union/Russia.

My favorite Canada hack:
Why do Canadians say 'eh' all the time?
Just spell Canada out loud.
C-A-N-A-D-A

With regard to date representation, I think ISO 8601 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_8601) makes the most sense.

SlyMaelstrom
11-24-2006, 09:05 PM
Yeah, actually it's more like "Hey Bud-day... I'm aboot to throw a party over here."

You'd think Canada's domain ending would be .eh, not .ca.

SlyMaelstrom

"Where can I search the web reliably?" "google.eh"

Now, that's cool.

off-topic is overrated

joeprogrammer
11-25-2006, 06:36 PM
Oh man, you guys are cracking me up...

Of course, "eh" is just something that Americans and the rest of the world like to stereotype on us; I don't play hockey, I rarely if ever use "eh" in my sentance, and am completely ignorant of the fact that Lacrosse is Canada's official sport. ;)

off-topic is overrated But it's unavoidable. :)

"Umm... err... Hey, didn't the neighbors just reside their house? Looks great, doesn't it... really increases the value of the neighborhood."

"Why do you always cha..."

"It's unavoidable!"

I just kiddin' with you, Mario. We all know you're probably a hot latin lover.

No, really. You aren't far from the truth.

We have a condoms tv commercial over here. It goes more or less like this:

A pack of two for those just starting. The second because the first got used too quickly.
A pack of 3 for the more advanced ones; One for the mornings, another for the afternoons, another at night.
A pack of 6 for the experts. One for each day of the week.
And a pack of 12 for the married. One for January, another for February,...
