The time is drawing near, so let's have a little game of it. This is about all we have to go on:
"The rough estimate is January 5th."The ground rules: Guess what day the baby will be born (the poll had a maximum of 15 options).
What time of day it will be born (local time).
And the weight and length (I'd prefer pounds & ounces and inches).
Whether itís a boy or a girl.

Summary:

I didn't even know Prelude was pregnant.

So I'll bet instead (no offense meant).

- January, 2
- 16:50
- 7.5 lbs
- 19.5 inches
- A baby girl! What else? I bet Prelude's X chromosome planted a warning sign outside against any intruders.

How about we just get our name in bold :) I didn't ask though. I suggested, which is nearly as bad, but not quite. But I did beg, damn.

I was sitting in math recently and had the funny conception that babies were born with a weight that was like, 10 ounces, and then remembered that a soda can was 12 fl.oz. and had a good laugh about all the things implied by that misconception.

Is your wife experienced in child birth? Cause I think she should be disqualified for insider information. Here's the "insider" "information":
The first baby comes early.
Girls come early. So my wife took a standard two week combined handicap for a first girl.

I am guessing boy, for no real reason, so I went with bigger and later.

At this point I doubt she's dropped yet, and I sincerely doubt we'd see a picture to see how she's carrying anyway -- so lacking gender hints the rest is just really a guess. But there is some fun in that.

There. Now we can argue about these myths/common wisdoms/wives tales I presented too. :)

It's funny, I thought the same thing. Once I took the time to think it through it became clear that it's in pounds, not ounces.

Weird that we have had the same experience.

I bet it's you. Only because you suggested making a betting pool on it.

SlyMaelstrom

It's gonna be John Elway...

Or better yet, she'll probably wait until April to tell us and then just fool us with a stupid Terrance and Phillip episode, then we'll have to complain to the network to get a real answer.

There is no father, she's actually programming the child.

If she was programming it, it wouldn't take her a whole other month.

Which is why I'm betting on November 20th.

It was none of our business. ;) Well... at least I know for a fact it wasn't my business. Besides, let's face it. If we don't know about it, we don't take extra care. Which only means Prelude can keep being her usual self.

Actually... I bet when all this will be over, she'll post a thank-you note for having had the place and all the opportunity to relieve the stress. Her, and her workmates and her husband.

Well I wasn't trying to be rude. I underestimated how long people have known each other on this board though. I'm no good with these things so I won't be participating. :P But it is wonderful news nonetheless. Congratulations again!

Why do BS, McIlroy and K&R all look, well, strange. They just do, lets face it.
You could use McIlroy's nose as a cot for newborns (a poor attempt at not totally de-railing the thread).

When you're a bit older and wiser ahluka you'll realise that years of programming can take its toll on your looks. Unless you're a girl programmer of course, because they invented makeup for that sort of thing. ;)

I look so bad already I was hoping years of programming would have the opposite effect.
Then again, I could raid my mother's bedroom...
