Waste of money to solve nothing...

I figure it's going to cost about 1% as much as the Iraq war, and it gives me pretty pictures, so it's worth it.

The war is always a lame argument. We add to the debt through this waste of time called 'NASA'. Wars happen, for the best or worst, sadly, for the worst. However, nobody can change the past, only the future! :)

Right. Going into space is easily the worst idea we've ever had.

I was talking more about getting into space, but barring that, yes, we could take pretty pictures.

That is, before we get squished...

The point was that there are zillions of other ways to cut the deficit, and this is pretty inconsequential compared to a lot of things the government's spending money on.

Wars happen,
Heh, only in US.

However, nobody can change the past, only the future! :)
So exploring the universe isn't future?

I'd prefer to see hundreds of cool pictures of planets and stars to seeing "5 men dead in Iraq", "7 bombs exploded in Iraq this weekend" in the news.

No, those are just the only ones you hear about.

I estimate that the money spent on WWII all together is enough to make an Intrepid class starship.

I don't live in US, that's why I hear about other wars too.

For example Kazakhstan and Russia.

Kazak-who? Russia? I've never heard of them. I'm just an American imbecile brainwashed by the American media, which only reports American wars so I don't know what's going on in the world. I wish we had a free press like Estonia's! Oh wait, we do. Whew.

Sorry to derail, cheez

In all fairness the BBC is boring and depressing. The reporters all sound like they need midol or zantac and they talk about practically nothing. I know because the Jazz radio station thinks it's "cool" too play it on the top of the hour"

I think we should just let hubble go out with a bang and crash into a random spot on earth.

According to Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skylab), NASA still hasn't paid the littering fine from the last time they did that (http://www.space.com/news/spacestation/esperance_mir_010320.html)!

The Australian local government the Shire of Esperance fined the United States $400 for littering. In 2004, the History Channel show "History Rocks" stated, in an episode covering major events of 1979, that this fine has never been paid.

BLAM! The dog finally gets it. Awesome. I'd buy some tacos to see that.

I would not define a chihuahua as a dog, it is more of a cross between a rat and a cat.

It's actually the reincarnation of Napoleon Bonaparte. Have you ever seen something 6 inches tall show no fear and try to intimidate a cargo truck?

No, maybe not ... perhaps it will spot a vulcan c'thia zooming past our system at warp 5.
