C'mon govt! That screeny doesn't show us how many gigs those folders are. I'm putting my money on 3/120 [you perv].

I'm not about to post my desktop, and the only picture I've got of my comp is of it in pieces all over my room so I shant bother. I'm not sure why I'm even participating in this thread other than that it's the last netscape tab open after a long browsing spree and it's either reply or close 'er down. :)

HDs: 40 and a 160
AMD Athlon XP 2200 (1.81 Ghz)
1 Gig RAM
NVidia GeForce 4 64MB
CD-RW 52x24x52
HP LightScribe DVD-RW

And as for speakers... It runs through my 7.1 channel (110 watts per channel) Sony amp and out through a 10" Sub, two Tower Speakers with 1" magnetically shielded tweeters, dual 8" woofers able to handle up to 250 watts per channel etc etc and four rear wall-hanging speakers with specs I don't remember. What can I say? I like my noise loud and clear.

Okay I'm done wasting time now.

C'mon govt! That screeny doesn't show us how many gigs those folders are. I'm putting my money on 3/120 [you perv].It's actually about 35/15 or so. I've got some backed up on DVD, though, so it's about 25 altogether.

I've got nothing on ILV, though. Holy crap.

ober
07-21-2005, 06:32 AM
Goddamn ILV... share the wealth ;)

My specs:
P4 3.4 GHz 1mb onboard cache 775 socket
Intel mobo D915GAV (onboard LAN & sound)
Geforce 6600 PCIX 128mb
2 HDs x 120GB (one maxtor, one WD, both 7200 RPM SATA)
1GB PC3200 Dual channel DDR CAS 2
old TDK 12x CD burner
old 6x DVD player
470 W PC Power & Cooling PSU (kickass)
Zalman Copper/Aluminum heatsink
Antec BQE3700 case (kickass)

I'd take a pic of the case, but it's just a black box with some stickers. The beauty is the design of the inside (how Antec put it together, no fancy crap).

I'd also take a pic of the desktop, but I don't really see the point. *shrug*

Oh, and I'm married. My need for pr0n has diminished greatly since college, henceforth so has my stash.

It's actually about 35/15 or so. I don't understand the 35/15? 35 files, 15 GB?

My stats:
- Floppy drive!
- 40x12x48 CD-RW (doesn't burn so it's basically 48x CD-R)
- 512MB DDR RAM
- 2.26 GHz Pentium 4
- GeForce3 Ti200 128MB RAM (runs UT2004 pretty good (40-50FPS) on low settings)
- Network card
- PCI bus
- AGP port
- Bluetooth enabled
- MSI bus
- Onboard sound
- Floppy drive
- PCI bus
- Network card
- 512 MB RAM
- AGP port
- 40x CD-R

I have a ZX Spectrum - the best home computer in the world

The CPU clocks in a blistering 3.5Mhz
ROM is a spacious 64K, with a cavernous 128K of RAM
The sounds eminate from an "on-board beeper"
I have a total of 8 colours to play with - as if I need this many!
It has a built in cassette drive (but I'm saving for a 3.5" floppy drive)
I have an optional fire extinguisher at the side for those times when loading "frogger" gets to much for the CPU and it starts to kick out some smoke.

Keep your silly PCs, they never improved on the speccy!

What's wrong with floppies? They're so cute!!!
I still use them to archive my numerous programming reminders and suchlike which I jot down in .txt files. Handy for a little bit (very little) of zipped porn.

Tell me you're joking. I litterally wouldn't buy a computer without a floppy drive. Seriously. Bootdisks man, bootdisks!

Quite the contrary. There are so many other things you can boot to (cd, USB jumpdrive, etc), that there is no reason to have a floppy drive anymore. I didn't put one in the PC I built for myself this past christmas, and I don't think I'll ever use one again. I honestly can't tell you the last time I even used a floppy drive. We've even converted our bootdisks at work to CD.

Kleid-0
07-25-2005, 08:23 AM
Oh jeezus you guys are arguing on the usage of floppy drives in our current age!? Well, I think the only reason to have a floppy is to be able to work more better with older machines, like my good ol' 333Mhz pwn (but kind of sucks because it doesn't have Bluetooth enabled on the motherboard lol...and it doesn't have a cdrom either..but bluetooth is more important).

But remember ober, when I install a kernel, lilo doesn't ask me if I want to burn a CD boot disk, it asks me to create a boot floppy disk. Though you could just say no and then burn a CD...oh whatever, I hate arguements lol.

Who cares about bluetooth, my laptop has it, I dont even use it.

My specs...

Laptop: Toshiba
Pentium 4 3ghz with HT
512 mb ddr2 ram
nvidia gforce fx go 64mb
widescreen res of 1440 x 900
dvd burner
wireless atheros built in
winxp pro and slackware dual boot
60 gig hd
(on a side note, laptop can handle bf2 but with low textures. it definetly can handle counter-strike source)

------------------
server: slackware custom build
2.2 ghz amd
2 gigs of error corrected ram
120 gig hd
40 gig hd

-----------
Cluster: variety
O/S = clusterKnoppix
10 computers hooked up as a cluster
best ones: 1 ghz and 733mhz
Total combined cpu speed = 5 ghz
total combined memory = 1 gig

Dont ever use floppys, for window you can create your own boot cd or use xp cd. For linux you can use a live cd or create your own.

Spare stuff:
8 Monitors, 1 LCD (busted though)
2 cd writers
3 broken comps

Hehe, I had to go look in the control panel, because I didn't know the CPU speed of my primary laptop. Remarkable. It is an Acer Travelmate 4000 with a 1.5 GHz Pentium M. I bought it 6 months ago.
I need to get more memory, right now I'm at 512 MB -- it makes WoW lag in IF.

-Intermediate frequency?
-Instrument flying?
-Is it a location in WoW?

Major small that is so awesome. Our computers resemble so well. I loved your desktop image! Be sure if you play a game, that it's not on KDE, because that baby slows things down. I use KDE too!! :] I use KHotKeys, and you should too!!! You can link like the WIN+P key to Pause/Play XMMS, and loads of other cool stuff! Just reply that you want to know more about KHotKeys, I'll share more knowledge on my next post, it makes KDE perfect for workplace speed.

I made a small error-prone article on Linux Wiki you should check out:
http://wiki.linuxquestions.org/wiki/Priming_your_computer_for_gaming

Some things change because you're on Gentoo. I'm on Debian, have you ever tried any other linux flavors? I've only tried Debian.

we must be soulmates.

I can also write an XChat script to do the same while on IRC... doesn't mean I want to.

it makes KDE perfect for workplace speed.
except that my workplace only uses some linux, and has absolutely no desktop interaction. I hit the green button and that turns on the computer and loads a program which then initializes the scanner and printer. the other computers I work with all just load up their programs and keep them running until they're shut down (which they're usually not)

The computer I use:
600mhz celeron
Intergrated graphics (32megs? 64? I don't know)
Intergrated sounds
384megs SDRAM
Wireless mouse + keyboard
19" CRT monitor
20gig HD
Windows 98SE

My computer:
450mhz AMD k-6
ATI Rage 128 (pro?) 32meg AGP card
Some sound card that I'm too lazy to look up right now
384megs SDRAM
40gig HD
Slackware Linux

I'm hoping to replace my computer (well, recycle it) and replay the case, motherbord, and CPU and get a nice 2ghz Athlon and hopefuly upgrade the ram to 512megs. If I'm very lucky get a new cheap video card and Windows XP as well.

that's what the windows drive is for. No no no, there are excellent games for Linux that run great. Unreal Tournament 2004, and a game that is free that I played yesturday for the first time:

Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory (http://enemy-territory.4players.de:1041/modules.php?name=files)
SOOOO MUCH FUN. You are forced to played online, at which is excellent because it runs so well! Windows for games? BAH! (except for certain games, but who needs them, it's the developer's loss)

If I'm very lucky get a new cheap video card and Windows XP as well. Why Windows?

My computer I built in 2002 and haven't upgraded it once. I plan on upgrading it soon, but not sure. The only game that would force a CPU-purposed upgrade would be Cotton Boomerang 1 and 2, arcade, through MAME, which runs at 25% on an AMD 3000+ and will run an estimated 40% on the top of the line AMD chip. I'm not upgrading just for arcade cruis'n/rush. My PC does all the other stuff fine for me.

ASUS
AMD 2000+
512 PC2100
40 gb WD
160 gb WD

My friend has a nasty setup:
AMD 3200+
1.5gb 3200 DDR
XP Pro
Radeon 9800 Pro
3 250 gb WD
External 500gb
21" LCD
700w PA system with 2 15's(for the computer)

I only had like 2-3gb of porn before I deleted it. I remember looking through the Network, peaking into my parent's hard drive. My dad downloads some funny porn.
