I just noticed that I now have 50 invites to give out....I'm not sure what, if anything, that signifies for gmail. Did you guys get the 50 invites as well? your thoughts?

Yes I did.
Do they really expect people with gmail to have 50 friends ;) and yes I think they will be going public soon

I've only got 5 left, but I noticed they made it a lot easier to invite people now. There's just a box you type the person's name in and voila as opposed to the popup window they used to have.

"I concur", as my chemistry teacher used to say. I have noticed the changes as well.

I'm wondering if the excellent service will be affected by going public. Though if people want a Gmail account it's really not that hard to get one.

I have 50 invites but I can't freakin get it to work with opera. It says my session has timed out right after I try to log in.

gmail's already in the lead in that poll, but don't forget, people who are likely to visit newegg are nerds in the first place... either way, gmail took my 6 invites away

Well, you could just give yourself the 50 invites, and then give yourself the invites from each new account... and so on.. Get like every possible name on gmail, then sell the popular ones.

It says my session has timed out right after I try to log in.I had this problem yesterday with FireFox. Today I tried again, and after a hiccup or two it logged in as expected and I have no further problems with it (aside from wtf to do with the 50 invites).

the syntax of the code in your signature is illegal
you bumped an old thread
you had nothing useful to add to the thread you bumped

Well I wouldn't shoot anyone over a 3 day bump....

major_small

eh, it wasn't a big deal... I didn't even give him bad rep for that... in fact, I'm sending some +rep his way now

I love a coward who gives bad rep without leaving a name OR a comment...

sorry for the bump, but the thread is relatively recent.

Today I got an email from gmail stating:

I've done this right when gmail came out - before we started giving out invites - so I guess they are going public very soon.
