I competed today, my team placed second in the Greater New York Region, so we have a chance at getting a wildcard and going to the world finals in China. Any other contestants who post here?

Congratulations. Of course, I have no idea what you're talking about, but it sounds like you did well. Care to elaborate on what it is?

ACM is an international computer programming contest. Old Contest problems are availible for people wanting to solve challenging puzzles. I am not positive but I think it is only open to college students.

It's indeed a collegiate programming contest. This is the page for our region.

It's fun.. I was kinda hoping to win though. My team did beat some schools with pretty good names though (Yale, Cornell, Columbia).. not bad for a lowly state school :).

The ACM at my school went AWOL this year unfortunately so I couldn't compete. I guess noone got around to figuring out who would start the club. I really wanted to compete though :(

XSquared: Waterloo?

They are some crazy bastards :). Do you ever do the practices with them?

I'm actually close friends with a lot of them, and I've written competitions with them before. It's amazing to watch.

> I guess noone got around to figuring out who would start the club.

This is a story of four people called Everybody, Somebody, Anybody and Nobody.

There was some important work that had to be done, and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it. Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it. Somebody got angry because of this, since it was Everybody's job. Everybody thought Anybody could do it, but Nobody understood that Everybody wouldn't do it. It ended with Everybody blaming Somebody as Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

Good point Salem BUT in truth there really wasn't anything I could do. For some stupid reason our department states that traditionally only the computer engineering grad students could start the club. When asked in September and October what was going on the department said they found a few who would lead it this year but were just working out the details. It wasn't until after the ACM deadline passed that the department finally said none of the people they questioned got around to it :(
