Well it would be easier to help you if you gave us some bits and pieces of information about yourself or what you plan to specialise in.

For example, my brother Dave, has a registered company by the name of.....

(for an added bonus, his URL [which is out of action atm] is www.dave.ie)
As you can see, it's not a name you'll forget soon but it gets better. It sounds at first like a silly joke, but stands for "Digital Audio Visual Entertainment". :)

My point? You can make an interesting, memorable company out of things about yourself or what you do that you normally don't even think about!

You could also go for an old classic and just name it after a mythical creature, (say, Manticore) or something cool sounding in Latin (like Carpe Noctem [Seize the Night]). :D

or, you could go with carpe salvelinus, which is seize the trout

out of curiosity, have you ever been to France?

08-23-2004, 12:03 PM
No - don't believe I have. And my problem is actually with the French government - I have no problem with French people.

08-23-2004, 12:09 PM
well make appropriate jokes about the government then

08-23-2004, 12:11 PM
Good point - sorry.

out of curiosity, have you ever been to France?I have been to France (Paris, Lyon, Trappes). Most of the people are arrogant and snobbish. I've read a book about the French people, and it all appears to be a front... but damn. There is a difference between being guarded and being rude.

So, unlike sean, I have a problem with the people and the government. No offense to you, of course, whackexe. I don't know you personally and would not judge you until I do. But your fellow countrymen do not paint you in good light.

[/thread derail]

I chose my company name "Windy Hill Productions" as a result of my surroundings. You could do the same.

how long and and what circustances? apart from culutral differences, i find that categorising people by country is a retarded thing to do, you should look deep down what peopel in differnt countires want and you'll realise that the differnce is largely superficial.

as for a name, mind would be "stingy flat surrounded by ugly 80's sky scrapers designs" :D

Is the imfamous Parisian fact that 73% of husbands cheat on their wives, while 92% of wives cheat on their husbands true?

08-24-2004, 06:31 AM
I was there for a week, mostly for work, but I was in the social scene quite a bit while I was there. I'm not categorizing people by country, per se. But when you go to 3 different cities and are treated in the same manner in all of them, it begins to reflect upon the whole country.

And I don't know about the cheating thing for sure, but I was told by one man that "people don't get into other people's business, so it doesn't matter who you are with or what you do". I also spent quite a bit of time with a man that was very loyal to his wife and has his first child on the way. I think I probably saw some of the worst and the best of France. It was truly an education. The line of thinking over there is different from here, that is for sure.

yeh, the french are a bit rough with foreigners, buts its with all the tourists that people get a bad impression.

back to your company name:

you said webdesign. think of this:
* is your main quality design? more technical or more art? (-> Axe Designs, Hammer Studios, ...)
* or coding? are you mainly fast or is your code rock-solid?
* or do you want to offer allround service = no specalizition?

name could also contain parts of your name or city you live in.
