Hello,

My company is asking what kind of notebook I'd like including different peripherals. This is just a survey of some powerful notebook for a software developer.

What are the key ingredients? What hardware is good (drivers, etc.) and what hardware to stay away from? My first though is to stay away from wireless and go with an Intel LAN.

What notebook do you have or want?

Thanks,

Kuphryn

500MHz PIII 128Mb Dell Latitude, sure, its not the "New Hottness", but it gets me where I need to go sometimes.

Its wireless. : )

just as long as it has Visual Studio .NET, a good graphics card, a good processor, and some way of connecting to the internet, that would make me happy :D

Actually I have started liking Mac OS X quite a bit lately...maybe a Mac G3 laptop or something like that would be good. *braces for flaming*

Stay away from dell. IBM and Toshiba are good.

My Dell has been nothing but awsome. 1.4Ghz Centrino, 1GB RAM, 64MB ATI Radeon. IBM thinkpads are pretty sweet too.

What kind of development do you do? If you are developing on linux be sure the hardware you get has linux support.
