I have win XP Pro and i wanted to know if there was a way to get into true DOS without having a partition or DOS on a diskette/CD... does win XP pro even come with true DOS?

No, it simulates the DOS environment with a command prompt window. True DOS has been virtually dead for a while now...and should be left that way. :p

i'm not looking to get into DOS programming or anything, I was just wondering... writing batch files is pretty boring...

If you dont like batch files, move on to the newer alternative - Windows Scripting Host - you can use either JScript, PerlScript or VBScript, you can make instances of ActiveX Objects (With Apps like Office, Internet Explorer, ADO...etc), you have loads of control over the OS (Registry, Active Directory...) and you can even create limited Com Objects with it
