lemme tell you a little story:

every night, a guy called oskilian comes to cprogramming.com and checks for new messages in most threads.
after an hour, when he has gotten all warmed up in this place, everybody he was talking to, leaves. And don't come back...

This has happened with more than 6 people!

Why is it that this happens?
is it bad luck?

Oskilian

you see it is not you it is me. I show up cheak the messages, and when I am almost done they come and post a whole bunch of new ones. So I never do, get done.

I check the list, and all the threads I care for, have their last message by.... Oskilian!!!

ARRGHHH

for example: right now, the threads are:

Why, oh why?
Poll: best OS
Don't do drugs...
Microsoft Sucks
hm...
Board Translator
who isn't male? just curious...
*Michelles* avatar
Somebody Say Something
Poll: Sports
Useful Programs

and none of them have been updated

*Michelle*: thank you very much for the avatars, they are pretty neat!

about the time zone, yeah, I can't be here at the same time that europeans are here, but I live in the same time zone as Eastern USA, and for the rest of the USA, it's earlier.

If you people are really that despearat for social interraction, then I suggest you do it in a place where you can actually establish see the person you are talking to, such as a bar or wherever the kiddies hang out these days (if you're a kiddie, that is.)

do you think that people who come here are desperate for social interaction?

If I was ever desperate for social interaction I'd call up a friend...but then again I'm always surrounded by them anyway, so I've never been desperate.

I'm pretty desperate for social interaction. I'm so lonely, I wish I could see my friends more often (see them for real I mean).

But as long as my computer is here by my side life is OK. :) The C++ language, Linux, and the internet etc. are my best 'friends' after all - always there for me.

and the reason I spend lots of time here is because I need to talk to intelligent people, It's tough to find one at a bar, and I am saving money, so I won't go to a bar.

Two great reasons...

if(fridge.contents.alcoholic_beverages)
status = GREAT;
else if(wallet.money)
go_to_market.purchase(alcoholic_beverages);
go_home;
status = GREAT;
else if(!wallet.money)
status = BAD;
go_to_friends;

But that's just what some would say. I'm so bored it's pathetic.

If there are any mistakes in that pseudocode, well that's all it is. I tried to make it look like OOP, but i only know a little C/Javascript and no C++ so blewh!

adios,
biterman.

Why can't you see your friends?

Hmm...

Well, I live far away from them. I hate to call and to make contacts with people. I'm shy and lazy. They're busy with school and other things.

Shyness is a problem that the internet has altered, (at least in my opinion it has). One can communicate or not, there is not the requirement to speak, for example, that there often is in a face to face situation, and at any time one can simply leave, you are, after all, pretty anonymous. You can always talk to us of course.

BTW, my colleagues wife called me but the info she gave me was the same, (essentially at least), as that I got from the embassy that I forwarded to you a few days back.

I saw your e-mail, Adrian.

The info was very appreciated. I'll think about it.
