Hmm..what do programmers listen to really?

I aint a programmer, just wondering if you guys enjoy the same stuff that would someday make me deaf :D

Been listening to this since I was in high school.

Anyway, here's my list:

Prototype
Sentenced
In Flames
Helloween
Hammerfall
Overkill (esp. their old stuff)
Metallica (upto "Metallica"- their other newer CDs bore me to death)
Sonata Artica
Nevermore
Nightwish (a bit slow tho)
Steel Prophet

etc etc

Also
Blackmore's Night (very good easy listening)
Acher Tasmin (hmm...how did I end up listening to her??)

I don't like In Flames. I have a couple friends who do, but I hate their stuff. The older Metallica stuff is good (I couldn't stand to finish listening to the new CD... got through 2 1/2 tracks). Sonata Artica is quite decent...here's my list:

Dredg (oh yeah)
Nirvana
Ben Folds Five
Counting Crows
Eve 6
Incubus
Jimmy Eat World
Live
Marillion
Matchbox 20
OAR
REM
RHCP
Smashing Pumpkins

and I could continue, but I won't.

i liked whoracle better, but jester race is also excellent.

i liked the new met album. as an album by itself, it was pretty good. as a met album, it was decent. i think it was just a 'breaking in' album, next album should be much better

Wow, you all listen to some pretty crappy bands, with the exception of RaTM and Beastie Boys. Linkin Park is ok. The rest are just horrible.

Yes. I like Neon Knights, too.

I don't think they're still around... I think they finally broke up for good a 6 or 7 years ago.

Ethic people like punk music, well real punk music v. fake punk crap (eg. Blink 182, Simple Plan) because its good and its something different then the crap that gets shoved down peoples throat by the music industry. I don't understand all the metal bands on peoples list but oh well.

Brief Playlist (ok it turned out not so brief) :
Alkaline Trio (fav.) , AFI (old stuff, new cd sucks) , Ataris , BNL , Catch 22 , Counting Crows , Carbon Leaf , Everclear (only the first 2 cds, the rest not as good) , Fenix Tx , Foo Fighters (best concert I've ever been to) , Fuel Goldfinger , Incubus , Less Than Jake Linkin Park , Nofx , Rage (however Audioslave SUCKS) , Reel Big Fish , Rufio Saves the day , Save Ferris , Smashing Pumpkins , Taking Back Sunday , The Juliana Theory , Movieline , Thursday , Virginia Coaltion

Rammstein

If you like them, try "In Extremo", "Subway to Sally" or "E Nomine" once in a while. Pretty good. Make sure your parents don't understand german, it's a bit on the explicit side of lyrics in some songs *g*

Its Nobuo Uematsu to my knowledge. Spell it right!
hehe yeah he's cool, composer of Final Fantasy series game music. Cool stuff.

I mainly listen to underground stuff, trance n rave etc, and I forget the dj names. haha. But Trance Control sounds nice. Also into instrumental. Basically anything with singing ruins it for me. haha, weird.

Salsa, Bachata, Merengue(not a huge fan) Willy Chirino, Jose Jose, Juan Gabriel, grupo niche etc etc

Classical
Bach, Beethoven etc etc

Rock(80's stuff alot too)
ben l jordan, portishead etc etc, light stuff mainly, some metal like Rammstein

Rap(older stuff)
Nas, tribe called quest, the guru(gangstarr) etc

Techno
Paul Okenfield etc

I don't like

I basically can listen to everything except Country, I'm not bound to one particular type of music though. I need to listen to everything or I'll go nuts, considering that I'm always on the computer and always listening to music heh.

I'm only gonna displaying ones with more than 3 songs each:

-----------------------------------
Blink 182
Creed
Foo Fighters
Gob
Good Charlotte
Hoobastank
Incubus
Jason Mraz
Jimmy Eat World
Linkin Park
Lorie
Matchbox 20
New Found Glory
Nickelback
Puddle of Mudd
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Simple Plan
Sum 41
Treble Charger
Vanessa Carlton
-----------------------------------

Most of my songs are punk/rock when I was around 13. Now since I play guitar I like more "clean" songs like Jason Marz and Matchbox 20 and Vanessa Carlton. But Linkin Park rules all the time!!! w00t! I also have random cool pop songs like "Lillix - Its About Time" and Christina Aguilera stuff and this great French pop artist: Lorie. Download a few of hers, they got nice beat and are better than Britney Spears .

Sometimes, I also listen to techno/dance trance internet radio stations from Europe. They're always new beats and songs there so I don't get bored when programming.:D

50 cent is a freaking crackhead that doesn't deserve any of the
recognition he gets. Ooh, woopity dooh, he got shot 9 times, we
should all buy "his" music. I doubt that story is even true; yeah,
he got shot 9 times by the same person who stabbed Vanilla
Ice 5 times. I'm so frickin' sick and tired of seeing pictures of him
in a bullet-proof vest. I wouldn't be surprised if, like Vanilla Ice,
this whole shooting-story is revealed to be nothing more than a
marketing gimic. But who cares? Even if he was shot, it doesn't
change the fact that "his" music sucks.

He's such a dork.
