To make sure there are nver any misunderstandings when code is posted. Also, it's usually just the compiler/ide the person is using along with their OS. Rarely do I see anyone else posting anymore than that.

Regardless, of that, though, I agree that it's not all that neccessary.

If you don't like it, ignore it.

Though it does seem a bit out of place here. It makes sense in places like gaming, computer, overclocking, benchmarking, etc... forums. Places where the type of computer you have may actually be important.

It's a miracle that I can still use my pc with the specs it has.

I bet mine is WAY slower than anyone else's.

Pentium 133MHz, 32MB Ram, 1Gb Hd.

So there!

Gus :D

It's tough to ignore the pretentious. Posting system specs in one's sig is just as stupid as caring about postcounts.

Posting system specs as a signature is really common on boards where it is more relevant like Travis pointed out. To see it here is kinda weird but hey some people really are into their hardware:)

Well, on forums like @ overclockers.com they put their specs in their sig so you can see what they've got and what they've done to it...

I see no problem with putting your system specs in your sig as long as your compiler name is in there as well.

I'ts not always there to brag....but mostly to let people know what you are runing if they want to compile a program you have(Provided that your compiler name is in you sig)
