View Full Version : XP Home

Hey guys, I just got my new laptop and it came with WinXP Home. This is my first time using any flavor of XP (was using Win2K Pro) but I was wondering what the difference between XP Home and Pro was. Is it worth buying Pro or should I just stick with the Home version.

Thanks in advance..

I think the biggest difference is that Pro has a few more useless features. Unless you need to do something that you can't get done in Home and you check the MS website and find that it can be done in Pro, stick with Home. Pro is just a few more screensavers and menus.

And security, and networking, and IIS.

Most likely it's not worth it, but like blackrat said, check out the MS website.

Pro has stuff for servers and junk. But if you want to host a server, I'd just dual-boot XP Home and Linux.

Pro has some really useful features that I wouldn't want to be without.
*Remote desktop
*IIS Web server (I think Home has some kind of personal web server though)

the only reason i upgraded to pro from home was because it had the IIS.....

as far as i knew then, they supported CDONTS, but now those bastards took of it;s support from xp
