I am about ready to shoot someone. I have attempted unsuccessfully to pass the "Big n veiny" mission in GTA3 well over 3 dozen times (literally); I just got done trying for the 7th time tonight and have been trying for a couple of weeks.
I am so frustrated and p.o.'d because it is damned impossible!!!

I've read that there is a shortcut if you cut down the side of the hill and go straight to the Portland Docks, but every time I've tried, I run out of time after flipping and crashing into the fence. Once and only once, I finally actually got into the docks (taking the normal path) but then of course, time ran out _again_!

Do you have any tips or... anything that can help me pass this retarded stupid mongoloid mission? Thanks.

PS. My god, playing this game is different between a 4mb and 128mb vid card!

Are you using PS2 or PC? You may try those FAQ/Guides of any games as you'll be guided and how to play through all levels.

http://www.gamefaqs.com/ is a good site.

I'm on PC. Thanks for the link, but unfortunately the walkthrough doesn't help much. No pointers or anything; just tells you about the mission. ugh.

I wish there was a cheat to just skip a friggin level! You have no idea how frustrating this is!

This mission is hard. Just make sure you get all the porn which helps with the time and don't bother with any sh itty shortcuts. When you get to the docks, make sure you put the vehicle on the blue patch. If you still .......... up, you might consider using a trainer to freeze the timer.

You could always use a trainer. I use Ultimate Trainer (http://trainer.gtaskins.com/download.html) . It's pretty sweet, you can do all kinds of cool stuff like change the cars in your garage (with options to make damage proof), you can set a hotkey to flip you over incase you get turned upside down, you can even make a hotkey to get you out of water, and for the Big N Veiny mission you can use the "Solid Granite Car" mode. It makes is so that when you run into something, they go flying off and you keep on going like you never hit them. Just be sure you don't get dependant on it, it ruins the fun if your playing the missions for the first time. Good luck :)

Sweet, thanks.
Do you have any idea how such a trainer is written? Interesting.

I'm pretty sure it just edits the config files. You can do it manually, but you have to know what you're doing...as for the car-flipping and get-out-of-the-water features, I have no clue.

I'm gonna guess that some of the features in the trainer involve directly modifying the game's memory.

That would be my guess too. I just wonder how specifically he figured out how to do that... Some of it may simply be config files, but the things Tybalt mentioned, as well as the teleporting and the making a car granite (which is interesting because the program actually prints a message on the screen when you activate it [really a few cheats are like that]) must be done dynamically...

Curiouser and curiouser...

He probably just found the function that the program uses to output text, and somehow managed to call it with the message. There are plenty of memory scanners that allow you to monitor a game's memory. I've used them to create maphacks and mineral hacks for Warcraft III. ReadProcessMemory and WriteProcessMemory I think are the names of the WinAPI functions to access another process' memory.
