How many of you suffer from/have suffered from tendonitis, CTS or another computer-related condition? I know I have tendonitis in my shoulders (although I weightlifting took a part in that) and now i'm pretty sure I have CTS. I'm just wondering if these things are common with computer programmers?
Right now my tendonitis is really bothering me (worked out earlier today) and I find it hard to do anything but sit here and read. Perhaps I should invest in a keyboard tray, as my keyboard spends most of its time on my lap now (doesn't seem to aggravate me as much)

Hmm I'm on the computer alot and no problems. I do worry about maybe having my vision get worse though.

i havent had any muscular problems, but recently i have felt a change in my vision, especially when sitting in the auditoriums at school, i have to squint if im not sitting in the 1st 2 rows...i know this is computer related because i used to have better than 20/20 vision, i dont know whats wrong, i havent been to an eye doctor for a couple of years...i should probably get that checked out

the only muscular thing i can think of is when i play guitar for a while, (usually more than 30 min. or so) my wrist hurts like hell....and it never used to, i used to be in a band before i came to college and i never had any problems w/it...im not sure if its because i dont play that much anymore or because i type so much?

it's the same with me as with dp.. it hurts like hell sometimes when i play guitar. i play less than i used to, and i'm on the computer more often. it doesn't bother me much at all when i'm on the computer, but when i do other things, especially repetitive ones (i.e. playing guitar, writing, etc..) it can be hell...

i also have a large callus on my wrist where it sits on my mouse pad (i have one with a place to rest yer wrist). not a muscular thing, but interesting...

my back also bothers me alot, but that's mostly due to lack of exercise/a crappy bed.

The only time I had Tendonitis was when I worked at a factory assembling satellite wall-mounts for houses with a drill gun. My wrist would always be fine until I bent it the wrong way, then I noticed something was wrong. It wasn't even really painful, just noticably uncomfortable, yet had to be treated because of work policies, etc. I still have it, but I only notice it when I test it how the doctor had me test it. (I can do everything literally fine).

Here's what you do:
1. Hold your hand out from your body in the hand-shaking position.
2. Tuck your thumb down so the tip of it is touching the palm of your hand.
3. Make sure all of your fingers are together.
4. Now, bend your hand, like a door hinge, straight towards the ground. Keep your hand in the vertical hand-shaike position.
5. Try tensing muscles in this position.

I still have that in my left wrist, only a little though.

You've gone nearsighted. It's too late to correct it unless you have that laser surgery thing. You need glasses.

Too much of anything is bad for you. Get away from your computers at the first hint of pain. You body is telling you
something, stupid. Stretching exercises are good for what ails you.

how do you know its too late?
i know this isnt a scientific test, but i took an online eye chart and tried to read it and i could read it just fine w/both eyes (@ 20 ft) and fine w/left eye, but my right eye was a little blurry, but i could make it out a little......said i have like 20/19 vision

i need to see a doctor.....

You don't suffer any of those if you practice a disiplined way of work. For example, if you sit in front of the computer, don't see too close to it and then sit properly with the back resting to the chair - you wouldn't have a back problem then.

Because nearsightedness is irreversible, except through
lasik surgery. Do you read in bed a lot? You're vision improves
when you squint because your eyeball is out of round and
squinting corrects it temporarily. Do a search search on
google. There's plenty of information on the Web regarding myopia.

$2000. It's dropped rapidly.
My Mom had it and she couldn't be more happy with it. I'm going to get it when I'm older, too.
