This that rh is the most used, it don't say it's the best one, personally I don't really like Red-hat, but try it, it's very easy to use and configure, once you get more experienced, you can try others :)

I'm running RH8 now. Planning on downloading everything to upgrade this install fairly soon. I'll tell you if I run into any problems, but I'll probably have forgotten about this thread by then :)

Has anyone tried Redhat 9.0?
yeah, its not that bad. its mostly updates and a few minor fixes. if you like bluecurve(how redhat took over kde and gnome) you should like it. i havent played with it that much.

If you wanted to go with the most popular operating system, you should have kept Windows. There are so many Linux distributions that you can choose which one has the things you value. It shouldn't be hard to find information about the various distributions by doing a web search. Compare and contrast them.

Windows may be the most sold OS, but in my opinion, it is aimed at those who just want to buy a computer, and play with pretty graphics.

But of course, windows may be the OS of your dreams, a system that you can run many pieces of software on, as long as you don't change any settings. You may like that so-called tech support that is offered by these software companies.

Or, if you prefer OSS, just download and try each version, and decide for yourself.
