View Full Version : How many cups of coffee per day

How many cups of coffee do you drink per day. If you don't drink any there's a choice for you at the bottom. I'm just wondering if the amount I drink is too much...

I drink about 2-4 cups a day. But when I'm programming, I'll have a cup every one and a half hour or so.

I don't see how people stand the taste, if I want caffeine I'll drink a soda. :D

03-01-2003, 10:20 AM
I agree totally.

03-01-2003, 11:05 AM
I don't drink this "soda" either.

03-01-2003, 11:09 AM
I agree with prelude, it doesnt taste good at all.

I dont every see myself drinking it either.

03-01-2003, 11:16 AM
I on the other hand love coffee. Must drink 15+ cups a day.
Cant stand tea but do also drink plenty of coke.
I do not supplement my caffeine habit with proplus. Not got that bad yet!

i used to drink 1-4 cups a day, but i stopped a few months ago.. it was making me twitchy. i still have it 3 or 4 times a week, when i'm at school, but i usually have tea or soda when i'm at home.

03-01-2003, 11:56 AM
i don't like soda because my dentist said it's incredibly bad for your teeth. She said coffee won't eroid my teeth, and if I brush frequently it won't stain my teeth either. The only reason I started drinking was because I couldn't stay awake in any of my morning classes, but now I feel like tweak on south park when I drink too much (and it makes my armpits sweat really bad too).

03-01-2003, 11:57 AM
I used to drink 2 cups in the morning with breakfast about 5 days a week. About 2 months ago I started drinking only juice and milk with my breakfast and (duh) I feel a lot better during the day. I only drink about 1 or 2 sodas a day, if at all. Usually with lunch and maybe a late night coding-binge snack.

03-01-2003, 12:01 PM
Yeah jdinger I'm trying to have a lot more orange juice in the morning, along with a good breakfast. When I don't feel like eating I bring granola bars to school. Maybe I'm noctournal or something because no matter how hard I try I cannot seem to stay awake in any of my morning classes. I honestly get at least 6 hours of sleep every night, which is enough for me (I come from a family of light sleepers, no one else sleeps as much as I do in my immediate family). Hmm. I am trying to quit coffee, in case I didn't make that evident.

I would drink it if my parents would get something besides the plain old instant decaf crap.

For the taste, I just load it down with sugar. It actually gives a little energy while waiting for the coffee to kick in that way :D.

03-02-2003, 12:46 PM
I really dont see why you people wanna quit drinking coffee its not like its some drug like sigarets or marihuana or hasj or whatever.
I just dont get it why some of you act like coffee is ooooh soo bad.

03-02-2003, 12:59 PM
coffe !Que Asco! :) none a day for me

03-02-2003, 01:46 PM
I want to quit because I get a big high, but then I crash and its just the opposite effect (I get really low and tired and I want to sleep after school instead of doing my work).

Coffee is just as addictive as many other hard drugs fyi.

03-02-2003, 02:37 PM
Coffee as addictive maybe but not as effective as a hard-drug (btw marihuana isnt a hard drug). I mean its not like this=>

Drink a cup of coffee
:: 15 minutes later::

I'm just curious but whos parents over here (when your a kid) forbid you to drink coffee.
And if your a parent, do you forbid your kids to drink coffee under a certain age ?

Because ive got a slight feeling that (IMO although) lots of those who are against coffee are raised with the principle
=>coffee is bad<=

03-02-2003, 02:48 PM
I love coffee, my brain doesn't work well without it.

03-02-2003, 03:19 PM
coffee is bad because it is very addictive. When I dont' have it, I get headaches, and I get groggy and cannot concentrate on anything. As beege said, my brain does not work without coffee. It's hard to withdraw from it. I'm drinking only 1-2 per day, and I don't plan on having more than that.

EDIT: and yes my parents forbade me to drink it because they told me it's bad, but they couldn't really stop me because they are both big time coffee drinkers. My dad says he doesn't even get a high off of it anymore, it just makes him 'not go low'.

Drinking coffee is like taking drugs, Really...

03-02-2003, 05:05 PM
I really like a cup of coffee to go with morning lectures. But after I have had one I lose any inclination to drink it till the next day. And certainly not in the evening. Then I don't sleep too well. Now tea on the other, I drink plenty of that.

03-02-2003, 05:41 PM
lol the uk folk tea is were its at for your guys:)

03-02-2003, 05:41 PM
No coffee here.

03-02-2003, 05:41 PM
agrees with shadow

So could it be that the statement coffee is bad is being rown in ur youth.
When i was young nobody told me dont drink coffee. When i wanted coffee then i took it.
And getting high of coffee.... dont believe that.
The only time i got high of coffee was when we were sailing to the UK and there was a storm on sea. But ive never felt bad after a cup of coffee.

03-03-2003, 08:51 AM
coffee is evil!!! especialy a 12 shot cafe americano at 10 at night!! followed by a toffe nut latte and a 2 liter of vinilla coke,

you'll feel like $$$$ the next morning!

> Drinking coffee is like taking drugs, Really...

And that's why people drink it - it's got caffeine in it, which is a drug. So? It's a chemical. I eat things because the chemicals in it make it taste good. I drink caffeinated beverages because they wake me up a little and they taste good, as well.

Anyone tried those bottled Frappucino things? The caramel ones are great (except really expensive)

Hey, As long as you just drink it for the nice taste and waking
up a little it's oke, But there are certain coffee addicts that just
scare me.

03-03-2003, 10:19 AM
Why else would you drink it?

03-03-2003, 10:22 AM
I'm with Prelude on this one... if I need caffeine (and most times I don't), I'll drink a soda. Coffee is like dirty water if you ask me.

I don't drink caffeine, I have natural, erm...exuberance :D

> Anyone tried those bottled Frappucino things? The caramel ones are great (except really expensive)
Yeah, I have. They are expensive, and they are good. Although, as far as taste goes, I'll have to say an off-brand is better than the startbucks version(s). Start bucks is expensive for such a small amount of 'Cino. I prefer an off-brand called "Chino." It's like a 99 cent bottle for twice the amount of a startbucks bottle. It's not as sweet either, but yet it's a perfectly smooth taste.

I like 'Cino, but not coffee. Of course, earlier, I didn't say anything except, I don't drink coffee. :D 'Coz, I don't.

Thanks, Shadow - I'll have to check one of those out if I see it in a store... That'd be nice, too, since up until now, I haven't been able to find more than 1 store around me selling the caramel stuff.
