Ok, guys. PLEASE! If you are not going to answer this post seriously, Click the 'BACK' key in the top left corner of your screen |\| () \/\/ !!!
ALSO! If you have never used 3D Studio Max do likewise!


This is the FIFTH time I have asked this question and nobody has given me a proper answer yet! So please excuse the stress levels!

I have the following...

-A GeForce 4 Ti4200 128 MB
-A copy of 3D Studio Max 5

My GeForce 4 supports REAL TIME RENDERING!

When I use 3D Studio Max and want to render something I click the button with the pretty little picture of a teapot on it.

Then, a little window comes up with a black box on it.

THEN, a horizontal white line starts moving slowly down the black box, and draws my pretty picures onto the black box.

NOW! I am under the impression that REAL TIME RENDERING makes that nice white line thingy move REALLY REALLY FAST! Am I correct? IF SO! What the hell do I need to do to make the white line move really really fast? Is there a patch? A plugin? I am running it under D3D and not OpenGL or Software drivers (although I have tried!)

Somebody PLEASE HELP!!!

You are mistaken. Real time rendering - refering to either the opengl or direct3D api... and specific to programs that are designed to render in real time (ie: games)

I'm sorry if this is not what you want to hear :(

There are some plugins that support real time rendering in 3DSMAX, they don't just allow you to render in real time, but rather only under very specific circumstances can a scene be rendered that quickly.

A game can be rendered in real time because you're dealing with thousands of polygons (or tens of thousands)

a completely rendered 3DSMAX scene can up in the millions of polygons; very difficult to render in real time.

Real Time is often mistaken for the meaning that something will happen immediately(Or extremely fast). But real time usually means the time that something takes to happen while being uninterrupted. So if I send a radio signal to mars and it takes lets say 5 days(exaggeration).. then whoever received the message at mars received it in Real-Time. Or lets say a computer game... you press the button on your mouse and then the time it takes the computer to do its calculations and to act upon that button press is done in Real-Time.

Thanks guys!

It's nice to get a proper response for a change! (even if it's not what I wanted to hear)

With this new video card, 3DSMax does render things a hell of a lot faster (2.5 hrs as opposed to 22 hours for a 30 second scene) when I copare it to my old GF2.

But I guess you can't have every piece of the pie, eh?

I wonder if
