Did you write a program to parse output of HTML from the board to calculate that? Was it all requested manually? Was it written in C?

Salem

> Did you write a program to parse output of HTML from the board to calculate that?
Not as such - just a bit of regular expression matching using AWK (Perl without the steroids to you)

> Was it all requested manually?
Not a chance - the whole thing is
curl to grab web pages
awk to extract the info
bash to glue it all together

It's all about the average number of posts per day, wich is about
8 for everyone of those top ten posters, not a that high number
is it? 8 posts per day? it's just that they have been a member for
a loooong time.

10+ posts a day for more than 2 months membership = obsession in my book.

Take a break from this place, man! hehe.. you need to find some other more productive things to do.

LOL

You are just helping out the community a lot, think of it that way, it will make you feel better.

Thats a pretty cool script Salem, how long did it take to run for those top 10 posters?

RoD
01-18-2003, 01:19 PM

The people who do that in the C or C++ forums, that says alot to me, not GD or Tech Board.

RoD

Sometimes i post in the others, usually only when i need help. Think of it this way, if i was in the mood for total programming, thats what i'd be doing.

Prelude would never do such a thing...afterall, she can't get her hands dirty like that. First she'd hire Bassilisk to push me down her stairs, and then she'd publicize it as a tragic "accident".

::looks around:: I'm on to you, Prelude! ::ducks into corner::

I doubt she'll even take a look in this thread, What's this thread
about anyway? Okay so some people are a member for a long time so? Of course it's an impressive post count some people have so? [/pain in the ass mode]

Does she suck at WinAPI then? You mean to say there is a chink in Prelude's armour? That the code goddess isn't quite so divine?

Hm, When did you all got such a impression of Prelude?
Must have missed it. Not that she's bad or something, but you're
treating her as a godess! (of course she is among females)

howdy,
Prelude is one of the best programmer i have run into on these boards, the fact that she takes the time to help us out is grounds for worship.

Sure, but there's a great big distinction between getting help from most of the members, or Prelude. :)

>>RoD, you registered like 4 months ago and already you're in the top ten posters.

That is pretty sad; plus, only 153 of your posts are in the programming boards.

Yeah there are definitely some members who give much more than they take....Prelude, Hammer, Salem, Fordy, Quzah, PolyOOP, adrianxw, nvoight...... to name some.

You forgot fuh. I've not seen any of the aforementioned names selflessly volunteering useful 'newbie' information such as fuh has provided.

That's harsh, really, he's just not so good at programming yet and
still likes to contribute to the board.

He's on the board by the way, hope he sees your posts and kicks
yer arse!

Do you take me for a charlatan? I meant every word I said. I had no idea that fuh was ' not so good at programming yet '. In that case I'll be wary of his posts.

Hey, RoD, I think you're funny, and you create interesting threads, so you wasting your life here is definitely worth sumpin lol

And I bet a good portion of my posts come from the game programming forum (as well as the gd). I wonder who leads each forum? I'm going to try to check that info out...

i'd be shocked if i don't at least come close to leading GD :P

Well at least i'm funny sometimes, thats a plus!
