Yea like microsoft is really gonna release that information. It's a proprietary format. They update the file format with every new release forcing everyone to upgrade.

hello all,
Thanks to CShot, Ken.. and other members, who helped me getting the format of MS word. The site given by Ken helped me a lot.
But the problem is, the format is very complex and i have some doubt like is the format changes everytime whenever MS releases new version of Word.
Can any body tell me, is the KOffice of Linux is open source.. cause i have seen Koffice can open the Ms Word files. So that could make my task easier.

Thanks in advance

Varsha

I'm kinda curious. What are you trying to accomplish exactly?

hello cshot,
basically i have develop a program that can read what is written in MS Word file. U have send me the location from where i got the format, but if u have seen, the format is real complex. means , it is possible to make the project but thats the long task.
Microsoft peoples have used style sheets and thousand many things to make the format compressed, which increases the complexity

Thats all i want to do.
