I'm starting a new one... because i kinda deleted the old one..:(

ill submit my code from before... but i'll probably submit something of my own creation (completed) later tonight. failing that, there's always hammer's entry... :D

let's see... who was on team one?

Team 1 members:
rick barclay

and moi we kicked off

my code (in need of heavy improvements)

08-21-2002, 10:17 PM
hammer has implemented most of the required functions, and i've patched my and his work together into junk1.c. i've tested it in two scenarios, where there's only a line straight up of 3 opposing team pieces, and a line straight across. in both cases the program reacts intelligently.

sorry i couldn't get more of you involved with this, (most of you are probably on vacation or whatnot, anyway), but with a little luck, we'll still win this one.

thanks ygf... i was gonna start a new thread, but didn't get around to it yet...

Let me know if you need me to do anything or take a look at the code, although I'm sure Hammer did a lot better job than I ever would.

08-22-2002, 06:55 AM
and I was right... good job guys :)

08-22-2002, 03:36 PM
Thanks guys for coding (and winning). I'm sorry I didn't help, but this week has been so hectic I haven't had a chance. Hopefully, I'll be able to participate in Challenge 3. :)

08-22-2002, 07:47 PM
it's easy to win when you're the only one submitting something :D

08-23-2002, 06:55 AM
just makin sure this sucker doesn't get too far away ;)

08-23-2002, 01:56 PM
I'm off on holiday for a week now, so I won't be able to get on here :(

Good luck everyone, beat that bunch of loosers over on team 2, give 'em a good ass whipping. :p

See you all next Sunday..... have fun, and don't boot me off the island whilst I'm not here  :D

[edit] Ober, don't post again... ever.... your post count is currently "1337" ;)

08-23-2002, 08:28 PM
Hey, thanks you guys whoever did this one, I really couldn't help much if I tried, plus was extremely busy these couple of days.

Also posting to be subscribed to this thread :)

Um, am I the only one who doesn't understand the current challenge (the stock thing)?

08-30-2002, 10:21 AM
Cheer up buddy, we're int he same boat :) ...but yeah, I'm a little confused myself (probably more then 'a little', too).

08-30-2002, 10:28 AM
which part don't you understand?

08-31-2002, 06:04 PM
Hi y'all... I'm back.

Are we doing this challenge? Has anyone collected our purchase details and PM'd cshot yet? Does anyone know any good investments?? :D

08-31-2002, 10:26 PM
I haven't done a thing. Haven't really had the time. I also don't completely understand the objective...

09-02-2002, 11:37 AM
The objective is to earn more money than the other team to win. Sigh, perhaps I need a translator.

09-02-2002, 12:14 PM
in yoda speak again, you are speaking, eh?

09-02-2002, 01:21 PM
It sounds simple enough to me, I think!

We have $10k (or whatever it was), we buy and sells share on the "virtual stock market", and at the end of the time alloted, cshot adds up our money+share values. The team with the highest total value wins. Right?

Just need to find someone who knows about the stock market now  :D

09-02-2002, 04:00 PM
Well I'm not into that whole stock stuff. I don't know the first thing about investing, whether that be virtual or real.

09-02-2002, 04:40 PM
Yeah, I thought I understood the challenge, but to actually do... it ;)

So, who here owns some stocks/has some experience?

[looks around]

Anyone? :( Not me...

09-02-2002, 06:15 PM
umm... not a clue here... sorry... always wanted to, never have..

.... and currently think this is a dumb challenge... no offense, Cshot... I just don't think it's fitting to the application.

09-02-2002, 06:20 PM
Same here.

I think c-survivor's dead anyhow.

09-02-2002, 09:26 PM
Yeah, it does look so. The fact that cprog has been down these couple of weeks all the time doesn't help either. It hink we'll continue though. :)

09-03-2002, 01:57 PM
Yup we are. You must "outlast" in times like these in order to win this thing. On another note, how come nobody's playing yet?
