Hey,

For the satellite internet service im getting in the FAQ it states this:

Can I host a Web site on my own computer?

No. The BTopenworld Business Satellite Service is not designed to support Web sites at the your premises. The asymmetric nature of the service and the satellite round trip delays will limit the performance of Web sites hosted at your premises compared with those hosted on BTopenworld's servers. 20MB of Web space on BTopenworld's servers is provided as standard, with logs and statistics available.

Does this mean that if i do host a site on my own pc, that it wont work? Or will it just be slow becasue of the satellite workings, if it will just be slower will it still be faster than dialup?
Also is this the same for hosting an FTP server.

Thanks alot,

Two-way or one-way sat?

One way you will get the requests fast but only able to send data thru the modem connection (creating a nasty bottleneck).

Not to mention the 1/2 sec lag bouncing too sat and back (and degraded performance due to weather).
