i was reading the thread about fishes, and about adding a 'i'... and i rememberd how in the seventh grade i had a petition to convert the world to hexadecimal... i only got a few signatures... [i didn't have too many tech friends... :(, let alone anyone who know what hex was...] so... i extend this on to you...

What base is our alphabet written in? How would you
translate Chinese to hex? Yeah, it's a good idea, da.
I like it. Simplifies things. Write up an rfc, submit it to the

I said "Who can't read hex? Lol!"

I won't do it anymore if it annoys you, but I thought it was pretty easy to work out :D

L is the 12th letter of the English alphabet.

C is the value of 13 in Hex.

O is the 15th letter of the English alphabet.

F is the value of 15 in Hex.

LOL translates to CFC in Hex.

So that's what I was refering to not chlorofluorocarbon. Although I do see that this could present itself as an issue of confusion :)

After carefully reviewing your proposition that the universe should be converted to hexadecimal, I, Chief Magistrate Universal Plus the Seven Southern Counties of Indiana, have decided against it. (A) Your current, incomplete proposition does not declare what software will be used for this conversation (a moratorium exists for the usage of Microsoft software in projects universal and numerical); (B) a conversion to hexadecimal would break current quantum and general relativity software; and (C) the fine folks of the "Seven Southern Counties of Indiana" just plain don't like it when the universe changes like that.

In all "seriousness,"

If you want to submit a petition to convert the universe to hexadecimal as a Request for Comments, it would be best to date it for April 1, 2002 (maybe even in hex itself). All the best RFC's are released on April 1.
