Can't stop playing...

07-12-2002, 09:55 AM
wonderful... thanks for sharing :)

07-12-2002, 10:31 AM
I don't think you can understand if you haven't played it... That game's soooo addictive.

07-12-2002, 10:56 AM
it's not that... it's these amazing 3 word posts that are soooooo informative to those of us who haven't played it.

07-12-2002, 10:57 AM
You mean you haven't played it? Off! Get off my board!

07-12-2002, 11:05 AM
LMAO!! umm... no :p

07-12-2002, 11:07 AM
ok, and i just looked the game up... it's one of those damn RPGs... i loathe those kinds of games... maybe i don't have the patience, or the desire to "build up my character"... i like games where i can drive ****, shoot ****, and blow **** up. That's it. (well.... mostly)

07-12-2002, 11:11 AM
Aw, c'mon - you can't honestly say that watching your character be able to do almost no damage to watching your character be able to kill enemies with a single thought isn't just the bee's knees!

07-12-2002, 11:26 AM
What about... WC3? That games addictive as hell, but not to the degree of an RPG.

07-12-2002, 12:01 PM
ober - you go and wash your mouth out with soap this instant or i will blast you with a magic missile

07-12-2002, 12:17 PM
 not a magic missle!!! please!? i beg of you....

haha... "magic missle"... i could be dirty, but for your sake i'll be nice ;)

07-12-2002, 12:19 PM
Oh yeah, well don't make me cast cloudkill, Tasha's Uncontrollable Laughter (sadly, isn't even in the game), or Melf's Acid Arrow at you! Take it back!

07-12-2002, 12:49 PM
Okay, cheez; You and I are going to have to have a serious secret Mod conversation on the subject of making this ober character the first ever member to be banned. We cant have people dissing RPGs around here. I mean, where will it end???

*skulks off mumbling ominously*

07-12-2002, 02:01 PM
oh go ahead... i'll just turn into dean and start logging posts with stuff like "RPG Hater King" and stuff like that :p

RPG SUX! hahahahaha... (i really don't care that much... i just like to get you fired up)... but the point remains I still don't like that style of game.

07-12-2002, 02:03 PM
*pulls up a seat and gets ready for the action*

07-12-2002, 02:49 PM
:: blasts ober with a cone of cold ::
:: then casts ice storm ::
:: ober is now shivering with cold and regretting his harsh words about RGPs ::
:: casts Gate wherein a planar demon rends ober limb from limb ::
:: yay bassy wins again ::

(i really need to get 3rd edition rules my DM guide is 2nd - ps cheez - try the following and script tasha's yourself http://nwn.bioware.com/forums/viewtopic.html?topic=71887&forum=48&highlight=spells)

I want to get NWN, as I was a very big BG series fan, but I havnt gone to pick it up yet.

07-12-2002, 05:23 PM
:: runs over bassy with tank and then blasts her with missle to make sure she's good and dead::

::turns tank on cheez, but decides to just nip him since i know him personally::

::moves on to lightatdawn who takes some rocket fire and a wicked backhand to the melon::

::hides IP fearfullly and cowers under table hoping to be kept around at cprog::

I personally prefer first-person-perspective kind of games. One game i'm playing now is Jedi Knight 2 (but it's getting boring as time goes on..). I normally don't have the patience to play rpg games. but........Final Fantasy series is differrent. I played FF8 from beginning to end getting every gf.

JK2 ROCKS!! That was definately a change of pace from normal games... and the detail was just spectacular. But I agree... it is getting kinda old now. I thought the single player was quite good, by the way.

I love this game, I got my "+3 gloves of not doing what I should be doing", on right now. In a way I wish it hadn't come out. I haven't wasted this much time since BGII..

Now where is my magic bag? ..

07-13-2002, 01:56 PM
Since im used to the BG seriese, is NWN much different rules wise (as I think its based on 3rd edition D&D, as opposed to 2nd in BG(2))?

07-13-2002, 02:29 PM
Well, the rules changed completely from 2nd to 3rd... There's no such thing as THAC0 now, ACs are totally different (high AC is good now), among other things. But a dragon will still kick your ass :)

Yeah, the rules have changed quite a bit - but it still FEELS like BG. The atmosphere is thick, great sound effects and music. Very epic. It takes a little while to get used to the high AC and the feats system etc. But it is easily the best game I have played this year.. (actually ever :) )

Been on a LAN party all weekend playing NWN.

Had to get a new GForce4 4200Ti to see the great effects.

07-14-2002, 10:27 PM
let's see... the closest thing i've been playing to an rpg is monkey island 2...

07-14-2002, 10:28 PM
I personally prefer playing good old D&D. The fun you have when hanging out with your friends is something a game will never give you. And if on top of hanging out your trying to play D&D it's sooo much the better. Heheh!:) There's always one of the group who has some comment/joke/... to say. It's hilarious, really!

And besides... what could possibly be better than rolling dice?

PS: Don't answer that!

> The fun you have when hanging out with your friends is something a game will never give you.

That's the whole point of NWN, though - it's the first D&D game to try to recreate the pen and paper experience... You can desigin your own quests and things with the toolset, network your computers, set someone up as the DM (who can shange basically whatever he wants on the fly... There's even a button he can press to kill munchkins instantly)... It's pen and paper... without the pen and paper.

Yes it is wonderfull, just wish there was a dicing feature.... oh well there is always that "teleport to dragon" option you can use...
