Hey, does anyone know if the most recent version of WinZip opens the .rar archives? If not, what should I get instead? (WinRAR?)

Which archiving utility do you prefer? Which format is better? (.taz, .zip, .rar, etc)

I'm fairly sure that winzip can open .rar files, but you can download WinRar here (http://www.rarlab.com/rar/wrar300.exe )

Well, with Winrar, you can split one rar'ed file up into several files (with the extension: .c01, .c02, etc... and can reach up to past .c99) which is widely used in ripped games...

.rar actually is more flexible in it's usage, and often compresses the file more than a .zip

But... .zip is more common, so I always use it instead when giving compressed files to people

i found a place were you can download it. download.com has it. here is a link download.com - winrar (http://download.com.com/3120-20-0.html?qt=winrar&tg=dl-2001). or you can download it from kazaa if you have it.
