Here are some questions. some might be easy but i am sure you will NOT get all right...
ok, here goes.

1) Some months have 30 days, some months have 31 days. How many months have 28 days?

2) If a doctor gives you 3 pills and tells you to take one pill every half hour, how long would it be before all the pills had been taken?

3) I went to bed at eight o'clock in the evening and wound up my clock and set the alarm to sound at nine o'clock in the morning. How many hours sleep would I get before being awoken by the alarm?

4) Divide 30 by half and add ten. What do you get?

5) A farmer had 17 sheep. All but 9 died. How many live sheep were left?

6) If you had only one match and entered a COLD and DARK room, where there was an oil heater, an oil lamp and a candle, which would you light first?

7) A man builds a house with four sides of rectangular construction, each side having a southern exposure. A big bear comes along. What color is the bear?

8) Take 2 apples from 3 apples. What do you have?

9) How many animals of each species did Moses take with him in the Ark?

10) If you drove a bus with 43 people on board from Chicago and stopped at Pittsburg to pick up 7 more people and drop off 5 passengers and at Cleveland to drop off 8 passengers and pick up 4 more and eventually arrive at Philadelphia 20 hours later, what's the name of the driver?

1) All of them. Every month has at least 28 days.
2) 1 hour. If you take a pill at 1 o'clock, then another at 1.30 and the last at 2 o'clock, they will be taken in 1 hour.
3) 1 hour. It is a wind up alarm clock which cannot discriminate between a.m. and p.m.
4) 70. Dividing by half is the same as multiplying by 2.
5) 9 live sheep.
6) The match.
7) White. If all walls face south, the house must be on the North Pole.
8) 2 apples. I HAVE 3 APPLES, YOU TAKE 2, WHAT DO YOU HAVE?
9) None. It was Noah, not Moses.
10) YOU are the driver.

I was about to post/respond but then I saw the answers which take away from the joy and excitement of the IQ test. Maybe you should post the answers later after a certain amount of replies.

I've bolded the ones which I got right :) Although I did hear some of them before.

I got the exactly same correct vs. wrong answers as Dual-Catfish!

I was actually gonna bring up a thread about IQ-tests, because I've recently taken two IQ-tests which I believe showed a higher IQ than my true one.

At the first test, www.iqtest.com, my IQ was measured to 146, but probably a little higher, because they stated that if American English isn't your native language, you will probably score a little bit lower than your true IQ.

At the other test, http://www.geocities.com/capitolhill/1641/iqown.html, my IQ was measured to 160+.

This would mean that I have an IQ higher than 98% of the rest of the population, which I didn't expect.

Thus, I want to ask you to take these tests, or at least one, and announce what you got, to see if these tests really can be accurate.

this was not a real IQ test... just some q's for fun...
i also got about the same q's right... (i got 7 also wrong)

that's a pretty good score, considering the q's. are real IQ tests so tricky? i'll try taking the tests that Zewu gave links to...

Real IQ tests shouldn't be very "tricky". Or at least they should expect barely any real background knowledge, like advanced maths or so. Finding a pattern is an excellent example of such IQ tests.

5) A farmer had 17 sheep. All but 9 died. How many live sheep were left?

I thought they are still left even though they are dead... aren't they?

that is the whole point, they want you to miss something... many of the things, we can answer, IF we read carefully.

I'm pretty all IQ tests online are worthless. Then again, most of the regular ones are too. They tend to be nonstandardized, and therefore worthless. If you wanna go to a shrink and get one to find out how smart you are, then you probably should keep in contact with him:) Especially if you are tempted to discuss it with others. Nobody cares, and most people lie. This wasn't directed towards anyone posting in this thread, but I think it came up a while ago

I got a 10, (admittedly, I had seen a few of them before), but it has absolutely nothing to do with IQ.

I took that a few weeks ago, and I got a 150. I think most of those online IQ tests are bunk, though.

Those were more of brainteasers, I got 7 of them. Why do people take IQ tests, why do u want to know how high your IQ, are you going to feel more intelligent, knowing you have a high IQ?

Actually, it was relatively accurate (for me at least). It gave me a 160, and my IQ is around 162

I've heard it was indeed accurate from other people as well, but I still don't trust online IQ tests (or even real-life ones for that matter).

according to igtest.com

Average: 85 - 115
Above average: 116 - 125
Gifted Borderline Genius: 126 - 135
Highly gifted and appearing to be a Genius to most others: 136 - 145
Genius: 146 - 165
High Genius: 166 - 180
Highest Genius: 181 - 200
Beyond being measurable Genius: Over 200

My result was 137 which makes me " Highly gifted and appearing to be a Genius to most others"

Please excuse me while i go and throw up.

the whole site iqtest.com is not at all credible. it looks realy funy "high genius" ,"Highest genius" "Super duper Genius".
It reminds me of this game they have at some arcades were you punch a bag and shows you what you are from a scale of "lazy fly" to "The incredible ,super human ,most powerfull person in the universe"

Yeah, i figured that out some time ago. thanks anyway zewu, but that site IQtest was really CRAPPY! Big time Capital "C" Crappy!!

The iqtest.com gave me an score of 159. the questions on that website were atleast reasonable... the other one was @#\$#ing crap.

An example of the questions from the geocities iq test webpage:
"If you rearrange the letters of the word 'BARBIT', you will get the name of:
a. an animal
b. a country
c.
d..
e... <blah blah blah>

you get the idea!

and the questions i posted at the beginning of this thread were NOT real IQ test questions... they were mere brain teasers as someone pointed out before...

Pendragon

I don't think the IQtest.com test is very accurate. I scored 167... which would make me, by their standards, a high genius. Which, as much as I'd like to believe it, I don't think is really that accurate.

I have since taken four more tests on different sites for comparison and scored 144, 141, 151 and 142 respectively, which are probably more accurate.

That's so wrong! It's 12...

I guess for humor's sake it works, but saying something like "how many apples do you have" after you've only said that you took 2 from 3 (what if all 3 were yours?) is rediculous...

6 was pretty stupid, because you'd assume the person would be smart enough to light a match, then you'e asking which of the objects you'd light first...Not to mention listing some objects, then asking which is generally meant to mean "which of the above"

>>4) Divide 30 by half and add ten. What do you get?

see, you have to clarify half a bit better...

Sorry to nitpick, but some of the questions were trying to use this sort've reverse-logic and made logic errors within themselves...I hate when people think that they're amazingly intelligent by fooling people (not directed at you, however) and don't realize the fallacies (sp?) of what they've said.

Oh well, sorry to suck the fun out of everything...ever the nitpicker :) It serves you right for BUMPING the stupid post though.

Damn, and I felt smart after I took the test, 147 on iqtest.com, but I rushed through it, I swear :). Seems like everyone's a genius.

But I'm not a genius, did I spell genius right?

True IQ tests have to be administered by a psychologist, they involve much more than answering text based questions and they take hours to complete.

I took one a while back and I had to do things like spot what's wrong in a picture, make certain shapes out of wooden blocks while being timed, and repeat long strings of numbers and words in the correct and reverse order that the guy just read off to me extremely fast.

These online test are good for their entertainment value and that's about it.

i got a "Primary School Pupil" :D

1) I have no knowledge of that Noah question

But I still screwed the rest of them anyway :) :D

I took the IQTEST thing at the website and got a 152

I wouldn't believe this even if i got over 180 .. it's
all bull crap ...

some people are good in some aspects and the rest
in some others.

Now the likelihood that you'll get the **** that you want
in those questions is what decides what your score
is going to be.

All i say is, tell me your GPA :) (even this is not accurate, though)
(but atleast, *you* get to choose your courses so it should

You should also consider the hardwork and dedication when
judging a person, this IQ thing is bull ****.

The most valuable person is one who can do anything given
to him, without whining or giving reasons. He doesn't show
likes/dislikes of the task. He is always dedicated to completing
the given task and never gives up.

Blah.

Possible classes I could have taken my senior year of high school:

Pottery
Jewelry Design
Silk Screen
Personal Conditioning
Gym (I don't remember what name they gave that)
Marketing 2 (operating the school store... I actually did take that, but I ran the stroe as opposed to being a clerk or something)

What do you think my GPA would have been?

moonwalker

err... 4.0 :)

well, but you know what i actually meant there right ?

taking Pornography 101 (yes! it's there!!!!! in some schools)
just to increase your GPA won't help it... true..

Govtcheez

> Pornography 101 (yes! it's there!!!!! in some schools)

Where?!?!

Seriously, though - GPA's are a bad indication of smarts... I know people with lower GPAs that me that are smarter than me - likewise, I know people with higher GPA's that I'm smarter than.

Maybe even saying that is inaccurate - there's no decent way to measure intelligence across the board - it's just too broad and there's so many things that could affect it come testing time.

moonwalker
08-21-2002, 11:21 AM
>Where?!?!
Don't know the name ,but there are many schools..

there's definitely atleast 1 in TX

school has this course...

>GPA's are a bad indication of smarts

it's true... but it will give atleast a vague idea of what
kind of person he is.. (committed to education or not,
hardworking or not, etc)... yeah, it could be inaccurate
too, but that's what they see in Harvard, remember ? :)
and it is also the convention... asking for GPA to judge
a person's ability.

i personally have a different definition of intelligence (it's
a mixture of hardwork, sincerity, dedication and discipline).

Terrance

iqtest.com is a commercial website, and don't believe a commercial site that tells everyone from Forest Gump to Britney Spears that they're genius, lol :)

I don't believe an individual's i.q. is static, I think it can be developed and improved over time. I also believe that your i.q. can decrease if your mind is never challenged. Something like programming that takes a lot of memorization and intellectual thinking will definately improve your i.q. *Although on a side note, I think an individual's i.q. can only increase or decrease a certain amount, and varies amongst anyone and everyone.*

But don't worry about how smart or stupid you are. If you can figure out how to program, then you're smart enough. And now (more than ever), society looks down on smart people, and highly upon good looking people. So maybe we should all rest our brains for a bit, and spend our extra time exercising, because it really doesn't matter.

You're right..

that means those who got (or atleast said they got) high
scores gave these "ridiculously stupid" answers. :D

Oh, no... i am not trying to flame anybody... just ridiculing things
to get some giggles :p

as these questions have such
stupid answers, the test should be cancelled :D

The grading scale is also bull crap:
8+ Engineer
7 Student
6 High school pupil
5 Primary school pupil
4 Teacher
3 College lecturer
2 University lecturer
1 Member of Congress (lol)

look at this...

5 is primary school pupil and 2 is university lecturer

(yeah, lecturers don't give such stupid answers)

but his assumption of hierarchy was that a primary school
pupil has a greater IQ than a university lecturer (forget the
member of congress for the time being)
