If you have win98, you can qucikly press ctrl + alt + del twice the restart the computer, but that doesn't work in XP. Is there a way (similar to the win98 one) that does the same job?

ctrl-alt-del in XP opens the task manager. On the menu bar there is options to restart. Not as fast though.

The CTR-ALT-DEL in win98 shuts down the system without giving processes a chance to end gracefully....file handles are still open, the registry is not properly saved, and hardware may still be doing stuff that does not benefit from being stoped without warning...........you dont need to be a genious to know this is not good for your system and should only be done as a last resort....

If you need to, press the reset on the front of the box, or hold down the power key for > than 5 seconds........but only as a last resort!

Quoting you from an earlier thread on this board;

I format like once a month. I gather too much crap. I just back up what I want then format. It make your comp go way faster and fixes stuff ... eg. for some reason my system.ini file is f**ked so I can't go to folder options, display properties, add/remove programs or ANYTHING in the Control Panel.

Pretty screwed, eh?

Gee....... wonder why? LOL!!!
