Hey,

I live in the middle of no where with no dsl or cable and i cant stand my dam 56k any longer its just too slow. On BTs site they say that my area has no plans to be upgraded due to lack of demand lol.

Is it possible for me to offer to pay them to upgrade my exchange? Or does it cost like thousands? Anything up to like 500 would be ok. ISDN and sat are too expensive so i need to get my exchange upgraded one way or another.

Is it worth me asking BT to upgrade my exchange?

Thanks,

if u spend a lot of time on the net downloading movies and games and u need a fast internet to get ur work done...sure. Otherwise, just for surfing the net, don't bother...it's not worth it. :)

[the above was only my opinion]

You can probably pull off a fractional T1, to save money. Here in Hawaii, a full T1 can cost upwards of $800 USD per month. A fractional, where available is less. Still lots of money. If you want to do such an application, you better run a webserver or some money making capability to absorb some of the cost.

Consider wireless. There are wireless programs available in the US for 60-80 USD per month that allow you to have somewhat fast internet capabilities all around the world. Do searches at google for more information on both...

Also... consider sharing a T1 with your neighbors with a LAN. This allows you to share the cost but requires a dedicated router or computer utilizing IP packet masquerading (ICS for windows).
