View Full Version : All Time Favourite Song?

05-13-2002, 12:23 AM
What's your all time favourite song?

Mine is "Lightning Crashes" by Live. It is on there 2nd Album Throwing Copper (if you don't count, The Death of A Dictionary when they were known as Public Affection).

The song has a beautiful instrumental, and the lyrics are deep and meaniful.

05-13-2002, 04:58 AM
I don't know, it's tough to narrow it down to just one song. It would probably have to be "Psycho Killer" by the talking heads though if I HAD to choose one.

05-13-2002, 06:20 AM
"Psycho Killer" by the talking heads

Oh yes, that's a good one. I have the same problem. Too many good songs. At the moment it's Dark Mavis - Mansun (from Attack of the Gray Lantern)

05-13-2002, 07:17 AM
Just one song?!

Well, if I had to choose it would be The Silver Cirlce by Faith and the Muse.

Then again, that would be for today, can't tell for sure what it'll be tomorrow.

05-13-2002, 10:55 AM
Hmmm.., Now thats tough to choose. It depends on the mood.. sometimes i like soft songs [rarely though]/music and sometimes loud.

Still after some thinking i'll say currently its a tie between..

Butterfly - CrazyTown and My Name Is - Fatboy Slim (mix)

05-13-2002, 12:24 PM
either five corporations by fugazi, fire maple song by everclear, or a song i can't remember the name of by meat puppets
but it changes every hour.

05-13-2002, 01:16 PM
Oops i did it again by Britney Spears!

05-13-2002, 02:19 PM
Metallica "One"

05-13-2002, 02:26 PM
Bob Marley "Concrete Jungle"

05-13-2002, 03:04 PM
It's hard to choose one number one song, because you change sometimes and you like different songs from day to the other as your favorite one.

05-13-2002, 03:06 PM
Agreed it's hard. Now what's your favourite!!

05-13-2002, 03:24 PM
my favourite at the moment is "Learning to Live" by Dream Theater. (dream theater owns you, your family, and all of your pets)

05-13-2002, 03:57 PM
"Das Modell" by Rammstein and "Speiluhr" by Rammstein... "Blue Monday" by Orgy also ranks up there.

05-13-2002, 04:09 PM
I like almost anything Disturbed.
And I like System of a Down,
oh and Linkin Park.

Or if anybody lives close to atlanta, EVERY THING THEY PLAY ON 96 the Buzz

But if I had to pick just one, Probably Voices by Disturbed,...

05-13-2002, 05:40 PM
i feel old...i haven't heard of 95% of the bands mentioned, nevermind the songs...

i currently like
Man on the moon (REM)
Seasons in the sun - underated lyrics, its not a happy song....

Baby Stevey likes Britney.....especially the one when shes dressed as a schoolgirl...."oooohh baby baby......." fills his diaper every time (and not with poo)

05-13-2002, 06:47 PM
Tool Lateralis (ninth track on Lateralus). Then it would have to be Tools Parabol-Parabola (also Lateralus). Then everything else Tool. Union Underground is also good. Deftones (esp. Passenger).

05-13-2002, 09:21 PM
Smells Like Teen Spirit anyone?

05-13-2002, 11:22 PM
Saria's Song.:p

05-13-2002, 11:34 PM
Smells Like Teen Spirit is probably Nirvana's best song (in my opinion).

What's This Life For by Creed off the first album My Own Prison.

Nothing Else Matter's by Metallica although "One" is a pretty damn good song too.

05-14-2002, 12:15 AM
everytime i get an all-time fav. song...i end up hating it eventually...so, it's like saying "i've seen it all, now"...and then something bizarre happens...anyway, ONE of my favorite songs...would be judas priest - night comes down. put it on repeat...the vol. makes no difference...and then combine meadow meditation, with fountain med. and mountain mediation...(and then...maybe i should tell you the other one...ah, too much bother right now...space med.) in that order. it will blow your mind.

btw, space meditation was created by myself...don't believe what you've heard. i would go into it but it's a pain in the arse to explain...when i'm not in the mood. if you have heard of a space meditation...then it's not the one i'm talking about. if you wondered...i got my education in the twilight zone.

05-14-2002, 12:34 AM
I like Judas Priest too!

As well as Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Kiss, Pink Floyd, Alice Cooper, AC/DC just to name a few of the artist who have been around since my dad was a kid. (who also listens to the above)

05-14-2002, 02:59 AM
exxxxcellent. i prefer those bands myself. i just can't take anything corny. basically...i mean, i can stand manilow...it's stuff like country that rips my nerves to shreds.

05-14-2002, 12:11 PM
cant name just one, sorry.

God Lives Underwater - From Your Mouth
PPK - Resurrection
Dirty Vegas - Days Go By(remixed by i dont know)
Masada - All Systems Are Go
Dark UFO - Particle Accelerator
BT - Dreaming
Nine Inch Nails - Ruiner
Tool - Sober

All are subject to change except Sober. That one never leaves my number 1 list.

Inept Pig
05-14-2002, 01:25 PM
Well... It changes... currently is..

The Promise - Bruce Springsteen.

05-14-2002, 04:16 PM
My faves at the moment are Toxicity and Chop Suwey!.

05-14-2002, 05:32 PM
A lot of good songs have been listed, such as Lateralis, One, Smells Like Teen Spirit, and a few others. A lot of good bands have been mentioned, as well.

I like a lot of different bands and songs, so this is a really tough question for me.

I'm not sure if this is actually my favorite song or not, because I don't think I have one song that stands out from the rest of them (there are many songs that are equally fantastic). Well, the song would be Metallica - Fade to Black.

Lately, though, I've been listening to Green Day, Linkin Park, and Goldfinger a lot. Here are the CDs that I've bought in the past month.

Unwritten Law - Elva - not what I expected...but Seein' Red is still cool

MXPX - Teenage Politics - this pretty much sucked for the price

Deftones - White Pony - good CD but I have to be in the mood to lsiten to Deftones and for that matter the type of music that is like Deftones (e.g. Tool, Disturbed). At least in my opinion the music is somewhat similar.

Green Day - Dookie - listened to the music a lot before I got the CD via .mp3s and have listend to the music a lot after I've bought the CD and like the music even more so now

Hoobastank - can't remember the name of the CD - like Dookie I listened to the songs a lot before I got the CD but I still like the CD

05-14-2002, 08:26 PM
Wow Tech you like posting flippin essays on topics dont ya?

Any way, I bought the last 2 DBZ movies just for the songs it had on it.:p

05-14-2002, 11:11 PM
I don't think I could narrow it down to one.

Incubus - Make Yourself

Hoobastank - Too Little too Late

Linkin Park - In the End

Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon / Money

Man there's a lot more, I just don't feel like typing them all.

05-15-2002, 01:32 AM
At the moment, my favorites are:
Eric Clapton/Derek and the Dominoes-Bellbottom Blues
Jeff Beck Group-Shapes of Things and Morning Dew
Allman Brothers-Stormy Monday
George Harrison-If Not for You
Marvin Gaye-Mercy Me

A tip for guys: Have bellbottom blues playing on a date sometimes...for some reason it really affects girls:) I guess it must be the whole sad theme: "If I could choose a place to die, it would be in your arms" etc. Little Wing by Hendrix works really well too.

05-15-2002, 11:34 AM
George Harrison is good. Actually I saw Paul Mccartney in concert a couple of weeks ago out in cleveland. (:

05-15-2002, 01:25 PM
Well, I'm going to have to go with Nirvana's "Sappy."
Then again, I also like "School" and "Dumb." Bleh,
every Nirvana song is great.

Speaking of Nirvana. 4 clips of their never-
before-released studio version of "You Know You're
Right" were just leaked. If you're interested in
them, check out my "Oh Yes!!!" (http://www.flashdaddee.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=2159) thread over
at Flashdaddee...

I also like "Redemption Song" by Bob Marley.

Ahhhh c'mon, how can you not like lyrics like

"Shes got a sister,
And god only knows how I missed her.
On the palm of her hand is a blister"

Sheer bloody poetry [\IRONY]

05-16-2002, 09:17 AM
Too... many... songs...

05-16-2002, 09:36 AM
Not been made yet, so can't say!

Of what there is so far, as with everyone else, mood dependent. Some seem to hit the spot more often then others...

Sorrow - Pink Floyd
Unfinished sympathy - Massive Attack
Expansions - Lonnie Liston-Smith

... and so forth.

05-16-2002, 10:36 AM
After reading this entire thread, I realize that
I am the only person who likes music that doesn't
suck. Odd... :)

05-16-2002, 05:03 PM

"Shes got a sister,
And god only knows how I missed her.
On the palm of MY hand is a blister"

05-17-2002, 03:28 PM
ted nugent is fast becoming my most disliked band. he keeps ripping on ozzy. that's way not cool. ozzy is like john lennon in my book. nugent isn't that great. how many songs of nugents can i recall? uh, cat scratch fever; the great white buffulo sp; stranglehold; freeforall; 'lest i forget motor city madhouse...and that's it. how many ozzy songs do i recall? every song he's ever written. in fact, ozzy may not appreciate my saying this....i have always felt that ozzy is a step above lennon. & of course, ted is a step below. and ozzzzzy, manilow isn't the antichrist, dude...i know he reminds me of amadeus too. like the opposite or something...he puts me in a trance. amadeus sharpens my senses.

Probably my all time favorite song is:

Metallica - Fade to Black

I like all of the old Metallica. That is to say anything PRE Black Album (self titled) I can enjoy. Anything past that, (sigh) I'm not sure what they were thinking.
