Why europe sucks
I want no arguments here and no Europeans to participate in this, I wanna know what america thinks about europe and what is bad and or good about it.

- Don't say America sucks.

Ive been on two seperate trips to Europe, both lasting longer than 2 weeks and id have to say that most everywhere Europeans are rude if they think you are American, even if your not a stuck up ignorant american. They dont care, yore American so your meant to be treated like trash, but then after you talk to them they change your mind its so terrible. Now this isnt true all the time but a lot, I did meat a lot of cool people over there, just depends on the crowd of people I guess.

I love europe and europeans. I have been there twice. Haven't seen much of it and was mostly in Scandinavia. Still... had a good time, and really want to go to Germany. (I mean really really really want to...)

Not sure if this is going to be a defensive post or not. We'll see ;)

>They dont care, yore American so your meant to be treated like trash

Beep. Right observation, wrong conclusion. They don't care you are American, they treat you like every other person: like trash. That sucks.

>Now this isnt true all the time

Oww, come on, give us some stereotypes already. Frogeaters, Island Monkeys, Teutons, Pizzas, there must be things that suck. ;)

Europeans suck because we can't make movies.
Europeans can't make decent computer games.
European shops close on sundays and public holidays.
European politics play nice... but don't get anything done.
Europeans smoke all over the place.

Hey my family's german and I love germany! Hehe german hash yummy :) Anyways, there are lots of things that are closed here on sundays, there are good European games, look at the GTA series!!! I like europeans but a majority of them suck(just like americans)!

Nothing good has come out of europe since america. I can't seem to think of any exceptions...

One word: Abba.
Need I go further?

This post is in NO WAY attached to the one above it by tim545666. It refers purely to the title of this thread "Why europe sucks", and boy is it a good reason.

Whooooohoooo ! ABBA rocks ! They made music videos even before I was born and they are GOOD ! Not that US-thrash ;)

Oh... if you want to hear something that's really bad, download german folkmusic ;) That sucks. Big time !

Isn't folk music bad by definition?

And if you are looking truely shocking, try some hardcore chinese freestyle rap. You will regret it.

Just out of interest do Americans in general think of England as part of Europe or do you think of Europe as the mainland continent and England as seperate. Although we are geographically european we are culturally very different.

I lived in Germany for three years during a tour with the U.S. Army. I spent two years in Aschaffenburg and another in Frankfurt. I learned enough of the german language to get by, but was not fluent (nach einmal bier, bitte!). My experiences were, for the most part, positive.

Although the tax rate is relatively high in Germany, they seem to spend their money wisely. They have well trained police and firefighting crews, as well as national health care.

Racism seemed to be a problem there. The phrase "auslanders raus" was such a common sight, I began to think it was the national motto.

In cities or towns with an american military presence the locals were not very patient with Americans. Further out, people were friendlier but you wouldn't have a lot to talk about unless you spoke the language. I can sum up my experience there by saying the Germans who lived next to a few thousand rowdy American soldiers weren't always happy to see us, and the Germans who didn't have to put up with us on a daily basis were most polite.

I spent 3 years in Germany in Schweinfurt ( US Army ) and the
one thing that got me were the beautiful women ( which were
plentiful! :D )who would walk by covered in perfume. From about
3 - 5 feet all you smell is the lovely perfume. Then they get closer
and their B.O. overpowers the perfume and you almost lose your
lunch.

Lesson for the day: Soap+Water+Deodorant=good

Not that that makes the whole continent suck. Just my two cents.

On a side not, I love the open air markets in the MarkPlatze
(sp? ). Love the food. Just not the B.O.

Europe sucks because France is in it.

Good things from Europe: French Bread, a few really cool wars with corpses and stuff.
Good things from England: Radiohead.

Well that suggests to me that whoever wrote the lyrics for NSync and Blue decided to rip off the lyrics from the most successful band ever (the beatles) and flog them by making Boy Bands.

Isn't that precisely what all boy band manufacturers do? Surely if a boy band uses a particular set of lyrics, that means they most likely are very good lyrics as they have probably been copied from something successful?

And Paul Mcartney is one of the richest if not THE richest musician in the world.

I'm not even a particularly huge fan of the beatles, i prefer Oasis personally but you can't argue, they are the most successful band EVER.

Name a band, any band who have sold more records.

Thank you

It's still fair to say they ARE the most successful because they haven't yet been overtaken, when they do, I will say they WERE the most successful.

A band is something consisting of more than one person.

MJ is the best selling artist (i think) but he is not a band

I'm sure they'll do another alt rock album soon. I am hoping that techno stuff was just a phase.

Why europe sucks
I want no arguments here and no Europeans to participate in this, I wanna know what america thinks about europe and what is bad and or good about it.

lol, this topic has more europeans posting than americans. only deckard and a few at the beginning were americans.
and yes, we consider england part of europe. just like madagascar is part of africa, japan is part of asia, hawaii is part of north america. still don't know who owns greenland, or what continent it's a part of.
why europe sucks... lemme think up a few reasons...:
european music (not beatles, pink floyd, or radiohead)
european wars (in the past)
taxes and liberal government
so many currencies (until recently)
so many languages
weird rules (in germany side streets going into the main roads have the right of way)
anti-american feelings
kings and queens and monarchies in general (ie, money vortexes)
colonialism (falkland war)
mad cow/hoof and mouth dicease
anti-gun sentiment
smoking (german-exchange students had to smoke every 10 minutes. i'm glad we sued our tobacco companies)
//edit: forgot good:
some british bands
high standard of living
more rights than other countries around the world (ourselves excluded, and probably antarctica since no-one really cares what you do there)
historical culture
better food
smaller and more businesses

stevey

>>colonialism (falkland war)

that wasn't colonialism, its a useless chunk of rock where a few thousand british people live.

it never belonged to anybody till the spanish or somebody landed on it.......the same way they claimed all of south america !!
we kicked em off and decided it was ours.

it has never ever belonged to Argentina. Argentina was not even a country at the time.
a military dictatorship decided to invade it to divert attention from problems at home, so we had to stop them. thanx for the help.

Not another why "insert country/cotinent here" sux Id say that earth sux but as things go europe/north america have the best living conditions. Afganistan is probably the worst country to be in so why don't we start a why afganistan sux.

When judgeing a country there are three things to take into account

1. Living conditons/freedoms/saftey

2. The place as a whole, how nice a climate it has, nice stuff to see, etc.

3. People there/ goventment, are they a bunch of jerks

Both the US and europe score high on the first two (for the most part) but not neccesily on the third.
