My copy of this book will arrive soon. I've ordered 4 books that was in the FAQ for recommended reading. I'm getting these books on amazon.com. They have new and used books.... the used books are in nearly perfect condition. Even the book "The C Programming Language, 2nd ed. 1988" was in mint condition (used). The pages were a bit yellow. On a lot of books, you can sample the material online Amazon. My interest in learning C/C++ is from an electrical engineering/mathematics angle.

To answer your question as to whether it's a good book for you would depend if you want to learn C using engineering/mathematical examples and programs. Only you can answer that.

One last tidbit if you decide to order on Amazon: I always select the super-saver shipping rate as opposed to overnight/priority delivery. They claim that using the saver rate, the books could arrive in 2 weeks but I have found they come to my location in only a few days.
