View Full Version : Recruiting members for game development organization(part II)

02-19-2002, 11:17 AM
Hello, my name is Ruflano and I'm 16. I was/am studying C++ since I was 14. I know some functions such as cout and stuff like that. I am currently making a project containing all of the functions I know(arrays, variable storage, strings, loops, random number, text color, recieving user input). When I grow up I want to be a game designer. I'm learning a little bit of C++ to make me more "employable" in the gaming industry. I have decided to form this game development organization. It will consist of rookie C++ programmers, veteran programmers, and some designers(who own programs such as Adobe workshop or anything like that). Though I want more rookies in the team than veterans. I want veterans in the team to act more as "teachers". The purpose of the group is for all rookies to learn new things together. So that all(people in the group) of our knowledge expands together. This could be a great learning experience. C++ is a difficult language to learn. I am working on the group's name right now. If you're interested in joining this organization e-mail me at Ruflano@hotmail.com

please be sure to include:
Name(nickname could be included):
E-mail Address:
*Position Wanted:
**Experience Level:
*Here are the positions available.

Co-Admin: Co-leader of the group. You could help me recruit some members. Knowledge of C++ isn't required for this group.

C++ Novice Team(students): One of the many rookies I expect to join this group. Minimum knowledge of C++ is required.

C++ Veteran(teachers): You'll be acting like a teacher. Or a C++ Mentor.

Designers(students): Newbie game designers/computer artist are what fill up this area.

Designers(teachers): You will be teaching the designer students how to properly do stuff.....

**Here are the experience levels:
1: Knows a few C++ functions.
2: Knows enough to make a good program.
3: Knows enough to be teacher.
4: Knows enough to make a game.

my apoligies to the mods for making the third topic. I could find this topic, that was the reason why I made it the third time. It will never happen again though.

Sounds fun...i guess i'll give it a try...
But there's one problem...
I can't access internet on my PC...
dunno why...should have formatted it long ago.
Anyways, until i get my new computer (Should be in the end of this month)
I'll have to use a MAC. Baaaaaad stuff.
And since i have compiler and everything on the PC I'll have to transfer files and stuff on floppy discs.
Oh well... I'm probably a level 2 thingie.
I'm not a vet but i can make a prog.

well hey i just uninstalled my tactical and unreal tournament so right now i'm focusing on programming and no more gamming for me for a while. and here to help you all out =)

03-06-2002, 08:23 PM
ok, sounds cool. I like the way you think. Less game playing and more game making

03-06-2002, 08:28 PM
i dunno if i can hold up. so far its been 2 days since i uninstalled. i have more free time to finish my homework and school projects but after i finished those. its just a few hours of c++ learning. half the tutorials i get even work on my compiler(devcpp). but hey i'm still learning i guess theres no end to what you can do under this language is there? =):rolleyes:

I suggest focusing more time on your school work. C++ isn't worth it man. It isn't worth it to sacrifice your grades just to learn this.

03-06-2002, 08:40 PM
stop bumping your posts!

03-06-2002, 08:44 PM
I'm not the one doing the bumping <real name edited by Govtcheez - that's not cool, Ruflano>, someone replied to this topic. Don't playa hate man.

You can call your organisation U.R.G. short for United Rookie Gameprogrammers.

Happy coding to you lot! And remember: Safety first! Don't forget to check your pointers!

The third post in the thread, (look at the dates), sure looks like a bump to me.

These threads frequently descend into a slanging match and should not be on the C++ board anyway. This time I'll move it, next time I won't.

03-07-2002, 08:48 AM
dang the admins gettin a lil harsh. ;{

>>> dang the admins gettin a lil harsh. ;{

Not really. This thread has been posted before, which, in itself, breaks the board rules. The previous threads and indeed this one would seem to have been bumped, against the rules. It was a recruitment thread placed on the C++ board, the wrong place. If the mods were getting harsh, we would simply have deleted these things after the first warning...

ive got two reformats under my belt

03-07-2002, 02:30 PM

03-07-2002, 02:33 PM
> sorry masta ya want me to polish your desktop?

Would you? It's pretty dusty right now... (I should do some work, then)

Adrian's right... The only reason I didn't say anything was because he did...

03-07-2002, 02:52 PM
ok, this group doesn't only consist of rookies. Maybe if you read my post you will know that there are also veterans in here too.

03-07-2002, 03:07 PM
dude we cool and all but plz stop. admins can ban you and delete your thread and even your account just like that.

03-07-2002, 08:23 PM
what the hell is with playa hate learn proper english

03-08-2002, 09:49 PM
ok, sure, whynot?

03-16-2002, 12:07 PM
I'll stop with the slang

03-16-2002, 03:35 PM
I'm sick of this. This has been bumped on multiple occasions now - there's no reason to reply a week later saying "I won't use slang now". I really hope it didn't take you that long to think that up.

Thread closed.
