Good day!

I have been hanging around here for quite some time now, long before I registered an account. This board has answered a lot of my questions, and made the learning experience a lot easier for me. I thought it was about time to make my first post to "introduce" myself, but mostly to thank you for getting me started with C++ programming. Thanks to all the regulars - you know who you are - that have taken of their spare time to answer questions and enlighten newbies, such as myself. I have learned a lot from previously asked and answered questions, even though I have not asked any questions for myself yet. Know that your efforts are most appreciated, probably by more people than you think.

Regards,
LEAF.

Woah! Someone who searches for questions before asking them!? That's pretty rare around here :-).

I'd say no problem, but I don't post in the C++ board ;)

Ah, yes- I am a moderator at another forum, so I know how insanely annoying it is when people bluntly ask questions, without even bothering to look for a solution on their own first. Also, I have been around here long enough to see how many nitwit threads you guys have to deal with on a daily basis. I can't believe how many please do my homework before Monday threads I have seen around here. A few of them actually had me itching to post a reply, but I managed to restrain myself. I'm a firm believer that <SomeGod> gave us two ears and one mouth for a reason - we are supposed to listen, twice as much as we talk :p

Nice statement, hope you don't mind if I steal it.

You seem like a strapping lad, enjoy your time here.

Hehe! Thanks. Sure, use it as you wish :)

Ah yes. The invaluable intarweb survival instinct of prepostage research. Those without it are doomed to get devoured by its trolls and megalomaniacal board-frequenting cynics - and rightfully so.

I'm going to quote that . . . I like it . . . thanks for the wisdom, LEAF.

Long live the trolls and megalomaniacal board-frequenting cynics!

I'm glad you like it and honored to have been quoted :)

I have found the members of this board very knowledgable, friendly and quick to respond, which is great for times when I feel like I'm banging my head against a wall. I would like to echo the sentiment of gratitude put forward in this thread.

Thanks to each and every member who has taken the time to answer one of my dumb questions :)

cheers,

Stonehambey

That's the spirit, Stonehambey! I was waiting to see how long it would take before someone else issued their thanks. I thought there were more "silent readers" that would post a little "thank-you-message," once I started this thread ...

this forum is very helpful.
we learn C/C++ and Win32 by ourselves - we usually make questions only when we can't find the answer anywhere else. although there are some exceptions, because we are in general very impatient.
