Got Netflix a couple months ago and love it. I don't like going to the theater anyway, what with prices, the inability to pause/rewind, annoying people talking and cell phones going off, etc., but I may never go again now. The selection is much better than at rental stores, too. In fact, I don't think I could have rented tonight's feature (Double Indemnity) at a BlockBuster. They don't stock older movies very well.

Anyone else hooked?

We stopped Netflix because we don't have enough time to watch movies, and the ones we do want to see we can get for $1 at Redbox. Otherwise, yes it is great.

Have you considered Blockbuster's version? It has the added benefit of being able to switch your movie at the store if you don't want to wait for the mail. We might sign up for that or Netflix over the summer, but haven't looked into it yet.

Daved does have a point. I can't use online services because some people, like me, won't be able to figure out what they want to watch way beforehand. I still go to the rental store. Not saying that others have to, but everytime I go they're full of people. There's a certain impromptu factor to rental stores that I don't think will go away any time soon: it's an excellent way to take out your significant other and select a movie to watch together. So I don't worry about rental places closing up really, either.

Haven't used netflix, dont trust the mail that much. Redbox is nice but there isntone in my area that ive foudn yet. I use BB, hate how they now charge the same price for oldies as new releases. Killed me building my movie collecton of old releases.

Used to have Netflix. But we went months without returning movies because we didn't really watch them that much. So we were paying them for nothing each month. It's cheaper (for us) to just rent a one-off from Blockbuster. For people who really love watching movies, it's probably worth it.

We are about to cancel Netflix. Had it for about a couple of years now and the quality has steadily gone down hill. Every other disc we get now is either scratched tothe point where it will no longer play or outright broken. This may just be the USPS causing damage but it is still very annoying to et half way through a good movie, be all up into it, and it suddenly skips back to the begining.
Great service though, I think they just need to develope a more secure way to ship the discs.

Funny you should say that - Double Indemnity was scratched and unplayable. Thankfully, I was only five minutes in.

On the plus side, they mail out a replacement when the complaint is submitted with no questions asked.

Heck, at that it's cheeper just to buy a new movie every time, site unseen.

I prefer blockbuster to netflix because, yes, turning them in to a brick and mortar store is nice, but really it's about Buster (http://www.blockbuster.com/catalog/movieDetails/292020) Crabbe (http://www.blockbuster.com/catalog/movieDetails/85118) as Flash (http://www.blockbuster.com/catalog/movieDetails/294438) Gordon (http://http://www.blockbuster.com/catalog/movieDetails/140883). When I was using Netflix they didn't have them. Maybe they do now, I don't know.

I have netflix and love them. I've gotten my share of bad disks but I would expect about the same percentage from in store. The closest BB is far enough away that I wouldn't use the store option plus I just don't want to deal with the store. Lately I've been getting TV shows from them which is really nice because I often don't feel like sitting through an entire movie.

The only issue I've had with netflix is that the show I'm currently watching (The Wire) has been shipping to me from all around the country so it has delayed my delivery time. But so far it has been limited to that show.

I have also found a greater impromptu factor on netflix then in store. Mainly because if I get a movie that just sucks on netflix I don't feel like I wasted any money getting that movie since I'm paying for the service not for the actual movie. This has lead me into getting movies that I might not otherwise get.
