I think I'm going to watch the superbowl for the first time. they are broadcasting it on Dutch TV and it is the first time I'll have the ocation(sp?) to watch it. Don't know anything about those teams (or any other team). I even know little about the sport. Can someone tell me a few names I have to watch. and how the score system works. I know this sounds a bit stupid and ignorand but I want to know something before I watch the game

I've heard about the Super Bowl, though I don't know anything about it. Some people in Europe are trying to make American sports some more popular in Europe. But it will take a long long way.

So it's on the Dutch TV, well, perhaps I'll take a look at it.

Rams are by far the most powerful team and they will crush Patriots before they know what hit them.

For me, those in damned cable TV network cancelled the channel (FOX-Sports) which broadcasts American football games. I won't be able to see Rams taking SuperBowl :(

The Rams are gonna (probably) win, but I'd love to see the Pats pull it off...

In the UK we have a 10-Pin-Bowling-Alley company called Super Bowl.

American football sucks. It's just rugby with lots of pads and lines and numbers.

On the poll i pressed patriots, but then when i clicked vote my mouse was a little too high so it went to 'i dont watch american football'...so add one to patriots and take one away from i dont watch..

Higher point scores though...That's why we Americans like it.

rugby==ring-around the rosey by a group of men with
questionable sexual preferences.

My gameday prediction: N.E. 20, St. Loser 17 on a last-second
Adam Vinitieri field goal.

I think that was the best Super Bowl half-time show ever put on.
Actually, the whole production was AAA Plus, from J.B> and the gang, Paul McCartney, Bono to Madden and Summeral. Madden
made one gaffe, though, when he criticized the Pats for going
for the winning field goal instead of playing for a tie. If the Pats
had played for the tie, they would have lost for sure. That was one heck of a game. And now I won't have to listen to St Louis
George's spiel at Nestle all winter long, thank God.

So... it's over now.... what a sweet game... Now Summerall's retiring... Who thinks he should take Madden with him?

Summerall was the only one keeping him in check... for the love of God... can someone please push him into retirement too??

OH, and it was definately a good game.

The irony of last nights Super Bowl game was extraordinary. I live near the University of Illinois, and the U of I's football team played at the New Orleans Superdome on New Years day in the Nokia Sugar Bowl against the LSU Tigers. Illinois quaterback Kurt Kittner (I think I spelled his last name correctly) hurt a finger on his throwing hand early in that game. Illinois never got on trak in that game, and was completely dominated by LSU in the first half. They managed to make the game somewhat respectable in the second half, but it was too little too late.

Both quarterbacks first name is Kurt, and they both injured their hand early in the biggest football game of the season, in a losing effort. And I believe, but aren't sure, that the last football game played at the Superdome before the Super Bowl, was the Sugar Bowl game.

After the game against Philadelphia, you could see that the Rams were not hitting on all cylinders, and they were primed for an upset, AND IT HAPPENED

Except the Saints' last game of the season (Jan. 6 - I believe that was after the Sugar Bowl, wasn't it?)

Hehe - that sounds like the Nostradamus stuff after 9/11... Btw, Warner injured his hand way earlier in the season - he just aggravated it last night.

One thing that bothers me though about the outcome of this playoff season, is that the New England Patriots lost to the Oakland Raiders, when the New England QB fumbled the football late in the game. Oakland should have the Super Bowl trophy.

ober

sooo... you honestly think your Oakland Raiders could have gotten past both the Steelers and the Rams?

Brady's arm was comin' forward, buddy - it was an incomplete pass, not a fumble.

If you say so... That's jsut one of those things everyone's going to see something different on...

D'you think that the human error that the refs bring to the game is part of the game itself?

Yes, it just was not politically correct for the Raiders to win that game after the events of 911.

The bottom line is, the Raiders got ripped off and the NFL can't hide it. Remember Brett Hulls "goal" against the Buffalo Sabres for the Stanley Cup... , it's just sort of like that.

Not in football, anyways... We still have the best hockey team in the league... And besides - at least we're not Carolina (can you imagine the coach before the first game? "OK guys, you win this, it'll set the tone for the rest of the season!")

Go Lions anyways!

Raiders screwed my (insert appropriate work)! Brady's hand was coming forward, eventhough he was going to tuck. All that matters is that his other hand wasn't on the ball. Dumb Californians!!!! jk

P.S. Guess who predicted right!!!!

P.S.S. Ken, you think you lost money, I know a guy who bet 1500 on the Pats even. But he just won an extra 2k.
