Plug Boards FTW, everythign else is irrelevant eye candy
but seriously, there is a point where GUI becomes GEWWWWY. In the example shown before fully 2/3 of the screan is irrelevant crap. Maybe when our desktop is the size of our desks it wont be such a big deal, but honestly, they at least need to make this craptastic interface an option. Just one more reason for me to 'Skip Vista'.

It would help if MS didn't make it so taht in order to properly use it without the bloat users have to strip down everything that makes it bloated in order to use it efficiently. They are also sneaky about hiding things within their own gui in an unintuitive way. If anyone is railing for "futuristic" (term which is arguable as the future in the 60s looked like crap) use the ms ribbon control that they have in a program. Most horrid thing I've ever seen implemented in a program.
In honest defense of myself, I never really said that anything we've done so far is really that amazing. If anyone is railing for "futuristic" (term which is arguable as the future in the 60s looked like crap)
Yes. But I would really love to know the opinion of this someone who bought "a real book".

Almost, but not quite, entirely unlike tea.
And now that you mention it, Vista is probably our first attempt at the Nutri-Matic. I can see it being owned by Microsoft.

IMHO the command line is very good for certain things and can often do stuff faster than you can in a GUI. The downside is that it requires knowledge, without which you need to research and figure out what you are doing. Not something most people can be bothered to do. At the end of the day you can be thick as pigs hit and still figure out what to do in a GUI as long as you stare at the screen for long enough O_O
Vista still sucks tho.
Alas the thread has dissolved into Douglas Adams references.
Shiny GUI is a relative word. For example, I like all the themes that defaultly come with GTK+ (Windows release). But I haven't seen any Vista theme that I like.
So you can't say I don't like shiny GUI. I like light GUI, which doesn't stop it from being shiny.
Btw, isn't XP classic theme shiny enough?

Alone in the Dark is a Vista fanboy with little evidence to support his outrageous claims that Vista is somehow better than XP. Most everything he has said in this thread and other threads just shows ignorance of what we are discussing. I guess he wants us to just accept Vista because it's the latest thing.
I guess he is Alone in the Dark on this one eh?
