One month ago some one created an account on youtube.com with my screen name . THAT IS NOT ME on youtube. Just so every one knows.
Has anyone else had this happen to them? Has anyone else had their screen name stolen?
And what did you about it or could do about it?
Nothing. Add some numbers to the end. I'm lucky though, mine was free and I didn't have to do anything weird.

Nevertheless, it's annoying when someone has the name you want.Picking reasonably random or long names helps their availability. If that doesn't work, I tend to use different names rather than sticking some numbers on the end.

Yeah, a lot of people tend to stole my lucky nick... Moreover some stupid sites like Macrovision prohibit usage of 4-letters names. Errr....
IN this case I started to use alternative nick walking_vart - which is so far more lucky to be unique.

It hasn't happened to me yet, and the closest I've gotten to it was registering to find that my display name was already taken, because I didn't know I previously registered. A quick log in and I'm set. Screen names (display names as I often call them) typically have one's name or a few words in them. These will likely cause "that name is already taken" to occur at sites with numerous users. In my case, since it's neither a word, nor any common name, it's extremely unlikely, though it is still possible. Considering others think it's tricky to spell, it's surprisingly easy once you figure out the many patterns. 4 letters: u, l, i, a (in backwards order too), with "ill" (synonym for "sick") copied twice and placed right between the center. U + L + ILL + ILL + I + A. Pronouncing it is a bit trickier in my opinion since patterns aren't really all that apparent. It came from a character in my stories I wrote long ago (from late 1997 or early 1998, the third episode of "The Story of the Wonderful Adventure", my first series).

The best strategy I think is to let everyone know that whom ever is using my screen name over there is not me. Else you might think it is me over there. Or if this happened to you would you want every one to know that someone over there is not you? The concern is this....if they the one using my screen name over there does something offensive or says something malicious I would want you all to know that the person over there is not me. And I am sure you all would want me and everyone to know that you did not do something malicious that someone else did right? Unknown is if there is malicious intent so yes this post is for real. Especially the particular spelling and way which thought was put into creating the screen name then trying to remain a halfway respectable cat. Meow. It would be like if you were some athlete then someone who never played the game or sport started using your name or screen naem.
While it may not be that big of deal if there was no malicious intent. Youtube is a popular social web site. This my happen and be more common than I know. But there is also identity theft. So overflowing the litter box when I seen that.... you have to meow. If you see the same screen name on several boards do you automatically assume it is the same individual? For example, I am very much certain the Salem on DaniWeb is the same Salem we have here -- both are moderators, both share the same posting style, both know a huge amount about programming, both share the same avatar.If you see the same screen name on several boards do you automatically assume it is the same individual?
