I'm not immature, I'm refined in the opposite direction.
Anyone know when Service Pack 3 is going to come out.
I don't know about SP3 but I do know Vista SP1 is available for download for developers as a beta on MSDN. But unless SP1 is a major overhaul of Vista's core systems I doubt it will do much. The problems in Vista go far beyond just bugs and get into serious design flaws that are not easily fixed or patched. Many fundamental designs in Vista are flawed beyond belief.
I only ask because I hear there will be a significant speed increase coming with service pack 3.
Really? I heard that SP3 was going to bring Vista features to XP, and since Vista was slow, wouldn't the transitive property say that SP3 would make XP slow?
vista features like what? Aero, refined explorer?

No big, fancy stuff. Just some background things.
No, SP3 is a rollup of all the hotfixes since SP2 for the lazy people who don't run Microsoft Update. I would be surprised if there were some Vista features in there, but I doubt it, because historically that's not how the final service pack has ever been for their OSes. Why would Microsoft want to spoil the XP crowd with Aero? It just gives them another reason to rebel.
Haha, yes. No Aero. But there was/is at least one Vista feature coming to XP in SP3.
And it's not for the lazy people who don't run update. It's great for sys admins, as well, and people who like to slipstream and don't trust windows update because it borks your OS.
And I hate Microsoft for probably doing away service packs in the future.
After researching it some more, I found out that it wasn't really "Vista features" persay, more like backend stuff. But SP3 and SP1 are being developed together, so there must be a reason for that, right? But I guess my previous argument about it being slower doesn't hold much weight.

Oh, right, so it is. I didn't see that.
