Slashdot's got an article up about Mr. Romero... Apparently, times are tough for pretty boy hippies, too - he's selling his Ferrari (on eBay, of all places)...

Anyone got any opinions about this guy? I don't like him much - took a promising company and drove it into the ground...

He was a pretty good level designer but he thought he was better than he was at ID and didnt realise carmack was the actual brains. Then he goes off to ion storm, plays prima donna and almost destroys what was a good team - hopefully now he has gone those left which include some good ex-Looking Glass people will get back to creating genius

Those that are left? I thought the whole company dissolved... Unless you meant the guys at the other office (with Specter)... What's the name of that company now?

yeah ion storm split into two - warren spector with some of the ex-looking glass people formed Ion Storm Austin while Romero headed up Ion Storm Dallas - dallas then closed last year when romero left leaving the Austin side of the company still up and running with the people intact. I think since then they have become more closely aligned with Eidos and may have changed their name (i think manifesto was on the cards at some stage) - mainly to get rid of the bad associations with romero/daikatana and the dallas side of ion storm.

Do you know of anything Spector and the boys are churning out besides Thief 3 and Deus Ex 2?

Yeah, I suppose so, but I was wondering is they had any plans for others

i am so eagerly awaiting those two that i dont want any others as i want both to be brilliant... as far as i am aware though those are the only two games at the moment

Someone commenting on the /. article said that he had already... Haven't seen a picture of him in a long time, though.
