    Conspiracy theorists - now it's a bridge

This is pertaining to the Minnesota bridge collapse. There are already sites on the internet blaming the government, terrorists, and whoever else they can think of.

You cannot be serious right? Now we are going to have stupid sites like this presenting only evidence that supports their stupid theories.

Same as Katrina, blame the failure of local agencies and officials on "Bush" and the feds.

It was immediately clear that the local agencies tasked with inspecting and maintaining the bridge had failed to work up to the federally mandated standards.
Just as with Katrina where FEMA was ready and offering help but was for days denied entry into NOLA while the locals were trashing around in the hope of hiding the scope of the disaster.
Locals who had protested the needed strengthening of the levies the Army Corps of Engineers planned because it would make them visible from their homes, the same locals now blaming the same engineers for not making the levies stronger...

My theory is the bridge collapsed due to age...

Were people not working on it to stenghan it? All things get old... bridges are always being repaired, I guess the weight of cars etc over the years finally took its toll

Let them talk. We all know the bridge collapsed because Bush was shown a report and never read it!

Here's a novel concept: use taxes collected for highway maintenance for highway maintenance.

That bridge never would have collapsed if all of our troops weren't in Iraq.

    Good one.

The amendment changes the constitution so that 100 percent of the sales tax revenues on motor vehicles are dedicated to statewide transportation improvement. The amendment calls for a phased-in transfer of the revenues over five years, with up to 60 percent of the dedicated fund going to state highways and local roads, and at least 40 percent to public transit statewide.
Or, 0% could go to state highways and local roads and 100% could go to public transit statewide.

They've been very busy for years trying to get billions for trains at the expense of roads.

trains noone uses because they don't stop where anyone wants to go, and stop there are seemingly random times when noone wants to go there (and which are by definition different from the times listed in the timetable).
