    >Which is fine (if you accept that Jesus was divine)

    i do.

    >which in turn follows from Judaism. Why aren't you Jewish?

read the New Testament... it explains why.

    >
For example, how can you know that any of the 'miricales' actually happened.
    <

woah boy... here we go again with this.

    >
DP's sig says (among other things): "Circular logic works because it does." You're explanation for why the Bible's right was because it is.
    <

    well yes and no.
yes, because in actuality and factually it is right.
no, because not all of the bible has been proven, not al of the prophicies have become true and because miracles cannot be proven, because Gods existence cannot be proven, this is where faith comes in.

I'm sure there are countless Jews that have read the New Testament. Why are they not all Christians?

The statements "factually it is right" and "miracles cannot be proven, because Gods existence cannot be proven, this is where faith comes in." in the same paragraph produce a syntax error.

    >>"Religion is for the weak ones."

Really, I'd LOVE you to elaborate on that, because I have the sneaking suspiscion that your'e dead wrong...

    >>For example, how can you know that any of the 'miricales' actually happened. <<

Well there's at least 2 which I can remember have been documented:

-Jesus rising into heaven. Supposedly hundreds of romans witnessed it. I'm sure you can find it in some non-biblical text or another.

-The miracle at Fatima. Look it up, I really like that one

Oh, and I believe there was one such thing where a nun or something struck water outside of a church, and it turned out to be a spring of holy water, able to heal...something like that.

    >>I'm sure there are countless Jews that have read the New Testament. Why are they not all Christians? <<

Why spontaneously change from a religion you were brought up on to a brand new one because of the new testament...? They've read, believe in, etc.etc. the torah and stuff all their lives...and now they're going to change based on a few passages in the new testament...? I doubt it. But hey, for all you know they DID convert.

in truth i cannot say you'd have to ask them,
    but heres what i hear,
they don't believe it because Christ came back to save us all and not just them as they believed he would and that they disreguard him as a mere prophet and are still waiting for the "real" Jesus to come, and jews won't believe it simple because they are jews and jews just don't do that.

How can you create something, from nothing. If there is NO god. That means everything, was created from nothing, which is impossible.

So, that "something" that created everything, or caused or set the chain events for everything to be made, is God.

(argh, to many 'ings in there.)

    >But where did God come from?<

Ahhh yes, but God is not physical.... so the idea that God had to be "created" is not applicable. Everything else is physical matter, it had to be created somehow.... and physical matter, can't be created from nothing...

Considering the fact that there is no such thing as time, factor that into the whole picture, and think about it for a few hours.

ya i know, don't point out the fact that a few hours is time... time is something made up by humans, and is only based on the fact that the earth goes around the sun......

Supposing all this was factually reported and not altered at all throughout the centuries, they had alot of bad bread in those times (fungus) which is often provided as a counter argument against religious visions. It seems if you go back far enough that nearly every man and his dog was having visions and then they stopped.

    >The miracle at Fatima. Look it up, I really like that one

I vaguely remember that from my school days. Does alot of witnesses to a moving sun (or what they saw as a moving sun), prove in any way that Jesus is Divine? There are accounts of thousands of people supposedly witnessing the Ancient Olympic Gods. There were thousands of Hindus who supposedly witnessed one of their status drinking milk. People of all religions 'see' these miracles. Does this mean that they are all correct?

So only the ones that have been brought up on the New Testament are able to see the truth then .

That's it. People who put their faith in religions find reasons to justify their own beliefs more often than not based in the enviroment they're brought up in. I'm sure a muslim could point to supposed miracles that support their faith in Allah, and the same for Hindu's, etc. Everyone of them believing that they have the one true faith. To paraphrase something I read somewhere - I don't believe in your God for the same reason you don't believe in any of the others.

Interesting historical fact... yes i said fact.

How was it decided that Jesus was the son of god? 400 years after his death, there's some sort of meeting held, by a king, and everyone in the room was asked if they thought Jesus was the son of god, the majority just happened to raise their hands....

(can't remember where it was held, or by who, but i have the info, I’ll get it together and post it up later)

doesn't sound like very solid way to figure out something that important, does it?

What really irritates me is the fact that so many Christians fail to question the validity of their own religion. I may be Muslim, but all my life, I’ve spent time researching other religions, and beliefs, looking for what makes the most logical sense.

I mean there are people who believe the world is 5,000 years old! Come on, that’s absolutely ridiculous, people take religion with absolute blind faith, and never logically look at things, its really dumb. Many Christians are raised to believe that if they do question there own religon, then they will end up going to hell, because they have doubt about their faith....

If my faith, made no logical sense, why would i stay with it?

First, its time for some of my favorite religion based quotes:

"If god doesn't like the way I live, let him tell me, not you." - anon.

"Organized religion: The world's largest pyramid scheme."- Bernard Katz

"The Christian resolution to find the world ugly and bad has made the world ugly and bad." -Nietzsche, lets face it between the inquisition and the crusades, Christianity has killed alot of people

"Religion...is the opium of the masses." -Karl Marx, it hurts to agree with Marx, but you have to give the devil his due(ignore the pun).

"religions are founded on the fear of the many and the cleverness of the few." -Stendhal

"Which is it, is man one of God's blunders or is God one of man's?" -Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche

"I cannot believe in a God who wants to be praised all the time." -Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche

"A heretic is a man who sees with his own eyes." -Gotthold Ephraim Lessing

and my personal favorite on the list:

"This is my simple religion. There is no need for temples; no need for complicated philosophy. Our own brain, our own heart is our temple; the philosophy is kindness."
    -Dalai Lama

Personally I voted other, Is there a god, maybe, maybe not. Is there an after life, could be, I hope so, because it just gets confusing trying to rationalize death in your head. However the christian idea that i have to go to church to experiance god, and that i have to confess my sins and all that is pure BS.

    >Where's heaven? The sky?

maybe its not on the physical plane, so therefore i doubt you could find it.

and so Darlen, you believe on mas word over another?

neither are a result of Christianity,

both are a result of the ambition of men using religion as a scapegoat.

I am Catholic, but I don't believe you have to go to church like some sort of crazed....crazy person...sorry, couldn't think of anything to say there...

    >>Where's heaven? The sky?

As was said, it's not a physical plane...

Good for them, but when hundreds of people witness the same exact thing, you may have something real on your hands ...Hallucegenic foods is probably the worst excuse for religious visions I have ever heard an athiest use...

...did I ever SAY it proved Jesus divine? You're just sort of putting words in my mouth, there...but yes, in a way it does. See, they witnessed more than just the moving of the sun...if I remember correctly these kids kept having visions of the Virgin Mary, and one day they gathered th whole town for a miracle she had told them she would preform to convince the town...If I remember correctly she revealed herself to the townsfolk and made the sun dance across the sky. That's gotta mean something

    >>So only the ones that have been brought up on the New Testament are able to see the truth then <<

No, I never said that. I'm just saying that people are so into whatever religion that they've been brought up on, they jsut can't let it go...and I don't like how you used that as an argument against religion, when really it's the people's closed-mindedness that causes them not to give the other religion a chance.

    Battle of the Gods

Got this in one of my groups and I couldn't help but post it here:

And God populated the earth with broccoli and cauliflower and spinach,
green and yellow vegetable of all kinds, so Man and Woman would live long
    and healthy lives.

And Satan created McDonald's. And McDonald's brought forth the 99-cent
double-cheeseburger. And Satan said to Man, "You want fries with that?"

And Man said, "Super size them." And Man gained pounds.

And God created the healthful yogurt, that woman might keep her figure that
    man found so fair.

And Satan brought forth chocolate. And woman gained pounds.

And God said, "Try my crispy fresh salad."

And Satan brought forth ice cream. And woman gained pounds.

And God said, "I have sent your heart healthy vegetables and olive oil with
    which to cook them."

And Satan brought forth chicken-fried steak so big it needed its own
    platter.

And Man gained pounds and his bad cholesterol went through the roof.

And God brought forth running shoes and Man resolved to lose those extra
    pounds.

And Satan brought forth cable TV with remote control so Man would not have
to toil to change channels between ESPN and ESPN2.

    And Man gained pounds.

And God said, "You're running up the score, Devil."

And God brought forth the potato, a vegetable naturally low in fat and
    brimming with nutrition.

And Satan peeled off the healthful skin and sliced the starchy center into
chips and deep-fat fried them. And he created sour cream dip also.

And Man clutched his remote control and ate the potato chips swaddled in
    cholesterol.

And Satan saw and said, "It is good."

And Man went into cardiac arrest.

And God sighed and created quadruple bypass surgery.

    And Satan created HMOs.
