Suggestions for a new LCD screen?

I'm looking to buy a new display for my programmer's dungeon. Ideally, I want the largest LCD screen I can get, with at least 1024 lines of vertical resolution, preferably with built-in speakers. The Apple screens are cute and all, and they'd go well with my Mac, but I really don't see the point in paying the price. And no speakers on those. Anybody got any recommendations?

I'm willing to go all out, within reason. I'm poking around PriceWatch but I've been out of the market for a while now and I have no idea which brands suck and which don't.

EDIT: Just realized that "all out, within reason" is somewhat of an oxymoron. Oh well.

Don't get LCD yet. See if Sony SXRD or the new TI DLP technology will make the crossover to monitors.

SXRD and DLP blow LCD out of the water.

That stuff looks cool. I've never been much of an early adopter, though. Do modern DLPs still flicker when you scan your eyes back and forth?

At work our video editors use 30-inch LCD screens...and they are pretty amazing. It definitely has 1024 vertical resolution, and I have never seen a better monitor honestly. I have heard about these DLP screens, and that they are really good, but I have never really investigated them myself.

I would suggest one of these: http://global.acer.com/PRODUCTS/monitor/2_series.htm
I have the Acer AL1951 from the Gamer Line and I am absolutely satisfied with the monitor and would buy the same one again without hesitation.
