Um, back to the original question -
I used to program my C64 for musical purposes - MIDI drum loops, automated synthesizer program changes, music theory ear training exercises, etc.
Once I started working full time teaching I had less time to program, and over time I completely lost touch with evolving technology. So now I program to try to get back to where I was, plus I've developed some little scheduling apps. And I'm working with MySQL and XHTML to keep my records straight and improve my school bands 'interface' with the public at large.
Long answer, sorry!

Huh?
i just do it for fun, i find low-level programming really interesting.
>What got you into programming?
wel....just got interested in it......
>What do you program for?
an income....
>What kinds of programs do you make?
database applications for the bank and the government (department of labour)
The knack of flying is learning to throw yourself at the ground and miss.
I got interested in programming simply because I wanted to make a website around '02. So I went from there.
I program because to be totally honest, I don't feel like I'm wasting my time. Of course, maybe at some point in time it'll be for the cash (or chicks), but as a high school student, that's not my utmost concern as of right now.
I write fun little utilities such as the ones that can be seen here.
I suck bad. :(
operating systems: mac os 10.6, debian 5.0, windows 7
editor: back to emacs because it's more awesomer!!
version control: git

Well, I got interested in robotics, oh, about 5 years ago, then discovered the world of microcontrollers . . . then realized I was enjoying writing the source for the 'controllers more than designing the robots . . .
I love computers. At one time there was 11 permanant computers in and around my house, and I always have, as far as I can remember.
I program mostly 2D games, although I'm looking into writing a text editor, hopefully implementing dwks' codeform into it . . . though that's a _long_ way off.
>What got you into programming?
I started with making websites (HTML / CSS), then I tried photoshop and a bit of flash and I learned PHP. I figured out I liked coding the most. After having read through a C++ book, I continued programming. Now I am studying C, because I want to have a good knowledge of C too :P. I also tried Java 2 for some time, but I stopped, then I tried again and I couldn't figure out how to compile :P I liked C / C++ more.
>What do you program for?
For fun, to learn and I am interested in Robots (artificial intelligence, like Terminator :P But that's impossible for the next 1000 years probably :P)
>What kinds of programs do you make?
All kinds, just to learn. I like making mathematical programs and I am trying to make AI programs.
