since you all have been here, have you ever caught yourself helping someone toooooo much... thereby digging yourself into a hole where you just keep helping them and they keep having more and more problems.... god I hate that.

lol, oh yes! It's happened quite a few times. Usually what happens is a whole e-mail campaign starts up. I actually dont mind though. The beauty of a computer is that nobody knows if you're actually there or not. I only have so much time most days so people only get so much help. Its that simple.

But i actually enjoy helping someone along over a period of time. It turns into some sort of mentor-like thing. Kinda makes ya feel smart, dontcha know? I actually wrote several versions of an example text based rpg (its on my website now) for a guy who wanted to learn about it. I had fun writing it, and from other people i've heard from have learned from it... so everyone wins. I've considered writing better (much more improved and proper) versions but i'm lazy and if nobody asks i'm not likely to do it.

That is annoying...you help them out by giving them a short snippet of code, then they can't get the snippet working, so you give them a modification, they can't get THAT working, so they ask you about every single function you used...then they find out they're using Pascal compiler
